I watch a lot of LPs on Youtube but it's gonna be damned hard to ever top this one.

Speaking of LPs on Youtube, I like this guy's Sonic LP. He played through Sonic 1 and 2 and he's nearly done with Sonic 3 & Knuckles.
I like the version on Viddler better, though, if for no reason other than the fact that you can actually see the flickering effects on that version.

One note: If you thought Alixsar had a foul mouth (and didn't find it amusing), you won't like this LP.

I haven't watched very much of it yet, but the mere concept of a video I Wanna Be The Guy LP makes me smile. 30 seconds into the first video he got farther than me (about three or four screens), and it looks like there's 70 videos. Holy F-ing Ess

One of the IWBTG video series on Youtube was done by the creator himself. (It's not the best one.) There's one with no commentary that just demonstrates getting from save point to save point, with all the unsuccessful runs omitted, made by one of the alpha testers.

I kind of like this one because he DOES die a lot, and he is surprised a lot, but he still makes progress. It gets a little tedious at times, but I enjoyed the first three videos.

OTG has that covered.

OTG's is best in my opinion. He also recently did an IWBTG spin-off called I Wanna Be The Fangame, which was every bit as entertaining.

I've been reading through some of the LPs on the SA Archive over the past few days, and I've found a few good ones that I wanted to share.

First off is Pokémon Mystery Dungeon: Red Rescue Team. I'm sure you're all aware of the typical SA style humour - you know, crude jokes, scathing sarcasm, jokes revolving around rape? Take all of that stuff and throw it out the window, as PMD has absolutely nothing to do with that shit. Instead, toss in some of the most light-hearted and optimistic writing I've seen come out of the site (bordering on cheesy, even), couple it with some fanfiction and in-depth knowledge of the game's mechanics, and you've got a solid LP all-around. Sadly, the guy writing it burns out near the end, but everything leading up to it is pretty good.

The other one is the Let's Play of Persona 3, which I've been looking through for reasons that should be obvious come this Sunday. Instead of taking the normal route of LPing the game, the guy instead takes a more creative route and writes about the game in the same manner of a livejournal, as updated by the MC over the course of the game. It's pretty cleverly done overall, and is worth checking out even if for the off-the-wall choice of story-telling.

Other than that, I'll have to echo the sentiment of Leovinus's FFVIII LP (and his FFVII one as well, which I'm waiting to be archives so I can read it in full), as well as RedChocobo's PokéThreads. They're good stuff.

I forgot to mention it originally, but this Blade Runner LP is another of my all-time favorites. It analyzes not only the game but the original novel and film, as well as their treatment of their common themes and what they owe to one another. It's also just an in-depth look at a surprisingly complex and big-budget game that went largely overlooked in its day.

I just discovered this Final Fantasy VIII Let's Play/ Fan Fiction written as entries from Squall’s diary. Not only is it a great read but it's really insightful and provides much needed back story and context. It plays with assumptions and reads as a "behind the scenes" or "this-is-how-it-really-happened" story. What this does is makes the real game better.

Highly recommended, especially if you hate FFVIII.

I just found this LP of a ROM-hack called Pokémon Ruby Destiny: Reign of Legends while browsing the SA LP forums today, and ohh man. It seems fairly benign at first, but once the plot kicks in and the antagonists (called - I shit you not - Royal Darkness and Luminous Cenaries) the writing gets so, so bad. It's by Zorak (who, fittingly, also LPed Pokémon Quartz) so it's all good.

It's not a LP per se, but Creepy's Naked Alucard run of SotN is close enough and still one of the funniest things I've ever read on the internet.

Thank you Galamoth. You have truly prepared me for the end of the game, giving me the tools I will need to take down Dracula once and for all. You have reminded me of who I am, and what things like honor and pride should mean to me.

Fuck pride. I'm Naked Alucard, I have no pride.

Argh, Naked Alucard stole hours of my day. Pity there's no pictures, though I suppose the game isn't faithful enough to really do it justice.

This has got to be one of the best LPs ever. I wish so hard that it was finished so I didn't have to wait for the updates. It's even more addicting than the other great LPs I've read thus far.

The Dark Id has covered Dirge of Cerberus: Final Fantasy VII.

OTG's run of Street Fighter IV is the best guide I've seen both to explaining the game's mechanics and demonstrating its appeal.

He's not the person playing it; he just found the video and dubbed his own Wacky Commentary over it. Compared to the original version, I find it kind of insufferable!

The Sonic 2006 LP is 47 videos of pure suffering and agony and I love it. The fact that it is a terrible game is quickly revealed, but the kind of pain you can expect from the LP really comes halfway into the second video. I laughed out loud for a while at that part. It's fantastic.

I personally am really fond of Slowbeef's LPs of Snatcher and SD Snatcher. Slowbeef's LP of Policenauts was another one I enjoyed even though it is incomplete.

So Kishi, when you linked the FF VIII LP in that other thread, were you trying to imply that it was written by Milky? I was a bit confused.

No, it was written by some goon named Leovinus (who has my eternal respect for doing so). I linked it from the Mielke thing because "I've always gotta be doing somethin' BIG!" is a (ridiculous) FFVIII quote, and that LP is my go-to example for pointing out all the ridiculous crap in FFVIII.

Thanks for sharing that LP, I also found them to be very entertaining. He's has some funny mood swings where he goes from levels being the best thing ever to everything being a cunt. He's also somewhat interactive with the audience like in his Ice Cap Zone video where he makes the audience listen to the super sonic theme instead of the Ice Cap Zone which he claims people love (honestly I liked that zones music too).
