Great LPs outside of Talking Time

SA forum member Geop is currently LPing a run through Dark Souls. Blind.

I am doing a screenshot LP of Ultima 5: Lazarus over on the Brontoforums.

Also, R^2 finished LPs of both FFT and FFT:A before Eddie finished his LP of FFT!

R^2 keeps it going, this time with Earthbound!

raocow is LPing Super Talking Time Bros. 2. Just started, but certainly relevant.

Retsupurae keeps dogging on BillyMC, but I have come to legitimately love his videos. His co-op Mario Bros. video with Lime Popsicle is absolutely charming. Their friendly optimism is totally infectious.

"I wish I could be as good as you, but that doesn't matter, we're havin' a good time!"

"Yeah, that's what matters in the end!"

And then Lime starts singing, and it's just wonderful.

Billy finding another person on his wavelength proves that there's someone out there for everybody. They sound like the Goofy Gophers once they get going.

I think that at this point, even Retsupurae is legitimately into BillyMC fandom.

Mother of God. I always wondered if that kind of shenanigans was possible (though I usually wondered about it with Crystal Chronicles, since no one ever wanted to play Four Swords with me).

Oh man, I'm so watching this thing when I get home.

Dear Nintendo: Can we please, PLEASE finally get a version of four swords with online this time around???

Game Grumps:

Ego Raptor & JonTron, who you may or may not know from their own youtube channels and other places, play video games together. Features cooperative play and pass-the-controller single player.

Basically their LP style is just to make jokes at random things that come up, like humorous interpretations of game animations and situations or poking fun at each other over the way they say something. It's literally just a recording of two friends playing together. It's weird... personally I've always had a preference for LPs where commentary/information about the game being played is the clear focus. So even though Game Grumps wasn't the type of thing I ever thought I'd be into, somehow I really like it. Maybe some of you will like it too.

I enjoyed each of their individual videos but I couldn't stand more than a minute of Game Grumps. I wish they hadn't abandoned their normal stuff for it.

Yeah, I can't explain it. Even now, if I watched some other Lets Play doing the exact same thing I'd immediately shut it off.

I split my sides at this part though.

The best thing to come out of Game Grumps is the stuff their fans come up with, like Goof Troop Boop or Protoman is an Ass.

My friend and I have recorded another Let's Play, this time of the original Silent Hill. The videos are in the process of being uploaded here.

Aw man, The Dark Id's Final Fantasy X LP has been delayed so much (first his computer died, then his PS2) that the forum thread is no longer viewable to the public. Guess I'll have to wait until it hits the Let's Play Archive in order to read the rest.

It's not the 10 bucks or however much it costs that discourages me, it's that I waste enough time at work with just one forum to browse. It's like when I go to a donut place to buy a single donut and they're all "it's cheaper if you buy a dozen" and I all "yeah but that's just a bad idea".

Note: I had just finished watching Brick's LP series before recording this, so I point out a few things I learned while watching that (like the biplane spindash and the Robotnik crotch attack).

SMWCentral romhacker announces that he's dying of leukemia, with one or two weeks left to live; raocow, ProtonJon begin LPs of his game.

Too bad the guy was lying about the leukemia.

I'm honestly kind of surprised that more people weren't immediately suspicious of someone being in good enough condition to be posting and using IRC when they've got a week to live.

The last episode of ProtonJon's LP was pretty classy.

I agree. He was put in a really difficult position due to the... events, but he handled it about as well as could be expected.

The SA LP archive just posted a really excellent Metroid LP with both 100% and speed runs. With featured musical guest Spineshark!

I don't know that this is "great," (it's actually kind of annoying in places and has a rough start) but two teenage girls doing a blind race of Link to the Past.
