Very carefully.
Really though I just don't play PC games. Last edited by Silent Noise; 12-30-2009 at 11:07 PM. |

So apparently Japan invented Let's Plays.

Guy plays through Mega Man X4 using X and gets no items, uses no weapons* and takes no damage.
I can do the first two restrictions, but damn. It's pretty neat to see him do a lot of the same things that I figured out on my own when I do no stuff runs, though. Then he goes on to do X5 and X6 the same way. He records commentary after he records the video, but it's completely understandable when you consider the amount of concentration that this kind of thing would take. *Except when absolutely necessary. EDIT: And then the guy goes through X1-X3 with the same limitations, then adds "No dashing" to the list. fffffffffffffffffffff Last edited by SpoonyGundam; 01-04-2010 at 02:20 AM. |

I can't wait to watch that guy's MMX stuff when I get home. Is it tool-assisted?

Nope. It's all done the old-fashioned way, so it's a hell of a lot more impressive to me.

Hey, he managed to vocalize my feelings on Jet Stingray's stage almost precisely. Why oh why does that place have the best music in the game?

I don't know if you've seen this, but oh my goodness, I've been watching this let's play of Mercs 2 today? And I have been laughing SO HARD. You should give it a try. It gets so crazy and silly with the co-op action. Excitement.

I know the Something Awful LP Archive has been mentioned here before, but I thought I should mention that they have what may be the only engrossing SimCity 2000 LP I've ever seen.
SimCity 2000 LP by Moon Slayer Gotta give credit where credit's due: the SA forum goons are often very good at creative writing. |

I may have regurgitated with pleasure/excitement and soiled my pants with fear while watching the ILLBLEED LP.
Warning: the second playthrough (parts 27 and above) get way into NSFW territory. |

I love the narrator. The best parts are when the text scrolls up faster than he reads, so at the end he has to start rushing out the lines to keep up.

Oh. I guess I didn't notice that so much, then. I think the only time it started bothering me was in Killerman, and he only did it there to underscore how ridiculous the mystery ended up being.

This currently running Final Fantasy II LP is pretty good. It's by a guy who knows the game inside and out, and he explains a lot of useful things about how to play the game without beating up on your own characters constantly. Honestly, once you know what's going on FFII doesn't seem that bad compared to other RPGs of the era.

The Left 4 Dead LP on Something Awful is pretty hilarious. I'm often surprised that they manage to get through while having such bad teamwork.

The Dark Id takes on Drakengard. The game is rife with, as the goons say, "What the Christ!?"-ness, and thus suits him perfectly.

I can't link to it from work, but OverTheGun's new LP of Braid is really entertaining. It's over on them You-Tubes.

Not sure if they technically count as LPs or not, given that they're on a "real site" rather than a forum, but Rock, Paper, Shotgun has two excellent (and massive) chronicles of multiplayer grand strategy games played over a period of weeks. Each of the players takes turns explaining their actions and thought processes at each stage of the game, and it makes for a fascinating narrative full of intricate plots and backstabbing.

There's a new Dwarf Fortress LP up at the archive: Syrupleaf. It's a sequel to Headshoots!

I dunno why, but Headshoots and Syrupleaf both bored me. Probably because they both forced the game to adapt to their story, whereas Boatmurdered adapted the story based on what the game threw at them.
In outside-LP-related news, The Spoony One did another video LP a while back. This time he tackled Ripper, another old FMV game. It stars Christopher Walken. Need I say more? |

Are you in a Pokemony mood with the release of HG/SS?
Well, maybe a new RedChocobo LP would be up your alley. |

Oh heck yes. Though I prefer reading them archived, so I'll probably wait.

Dart, are you responsible for RAW HORSE POWER, or is there another Zaidyer out there on the internet that wants to ruin Raocow's day?
