At the risk of being called an emotionless human being, I think Doug was right. I haven’t listened to the song in full, but from the lines that were stated in this comment thread. The guy is complaining about a soldier dying in a war. It’s a war, soldiers die. Frankly that’s one the main purposes of men in a society, to pay the blood cost when a war happens. Yes OT sucks when it’s someone you know and love, but trying to place blame on the government for it as if they are stealing from you is farcical in the extreme. It’s always been part of the social contract for men to go out and die (if necessary) to protect their groups, family/tribe/city/nation. The just the way the world is. If the song had been about that I wouldn’t have an issue with it. Instead it twists this completely normal social contract into some kind of evil perpetrated by the government on its citizens, which is just plain wrong.
