I know, right?

I hope they bring back the bike suits.

I mean, you'd think after being featured prominently in the movie and Peach even getting a figure based on it that there would be no question, but I haven't seen any signs yet.

(Haven't watched Treehouse yet, though, to be fair.)

Saw the Treehouse earlier, and Peach had hers.

If that's a confirmation for all of them, then Super Kartin Princess Rangers are a go! Woo!

See, what's happening here is that Nintendo actually knew $449 was too expensive for the average consumer. So they are leveraging Trump's tariffs to actually lower the price, which will result in more sales because people will think it's a deal now and snap them up, actually countering the effects of the tariffs and generating more revenue for Nintendo. The delay in the pre-order is so people will get nervous either way; people on the fence will now be forced to pre-order "just in case".

The $450 price point was (imo) clearly trying to hit the mark of $400+tariffs, but applied globally to prevent scalpers from trying to circumvent that.

If I were Nintendo I'd just make an announcement that the machine costs $400 plus tariffs, and pray that makes The Gamers wake up (very foolish thing to pray for).

My full messy reaction to Switch 2:

The design and UI look nice, if a little plain

Joy-Cons being magnetic is interesting but I'm unsure if it'll be more satisfying, especially because handheld mode is my main way to play

450 per console and 70 per game is rough, but I suppose it's expected now. I don't think this is gonna be a PS3 moment; all their competitors (besides maybe Steam Deck) won't be able to take advantage of the pricing.

Mario Kart World is really, really good. Basically a required title. I love how the tracks and graphics look, as well as the sheer number of characters (Pauline!!) but I hoped for more item variety.

DK Bonanza seems fun, but from someone who's never played DK games, I'm unsure how necessary it will be.

Kirby Air Riders looks great, but it has some competition for racing titles.

PLZA seems much, much better on the Switch 2.

No idea about Duskbloods yet.

Age of Imprisonment looks fun, although I'm unsure on how it'll fix TOTK's already messy story.

The tech demo being paid is just... so, so goofy.

Third parties are about what I'd expect (no Minecraft or Celeste?) but I suppose it's a good launch lineup.

That's better imo, making it non-canon prevents all the glorious fun of timeline debates.

Also:

- Buying a "Switch 2 Edition" physical game gives you a Switch 1 cartridge with a built-in key for the Switch 2 Edition upgrade

- Switch 2 Edition digital games will just act like the base game when the virtual card is moved to a Switch 1
UPDATE: There is a LOT of confusion online going around about this. Nintendo *seems* to plainly state this on their page, but people are posting a lot of conflicting information either from dubious sources, incomplete queries, or plain old jumping to conclusions from out of context or misleading posts.

- It is possible that "Switch 2 Editions" are Switch 1 carts with the Switch 2 data included on the cart.
- It is possible that "Switch 2 Editions" are Switch 1 carts with a key that allows you download the Switch 2 data like a Key Card.
- It is possible that "Switch 2 Editions" are Switch 1 carts with a code that allows you to download the Switch 2 data like DLC.
- It is possible that "Switch 2 Editions" are Switch 2 carts with the data included on the cart, and can not be played on Switch 1. This possibility requires Nintendo to be EXTREMELY misleading with the fine print on the game box.
- It is possible that some third-party "Switch 2 Editions" are just straight up Switch 2 versions of a game and are completely separate from the Switch 1 version, in which case Nintendo needs to slap some hands and get everybody on board with at least a consistent terminology.

There's also the possibility that "Switch 2 Editions" are Switch 2 carts (in terms of speed) that can be played on both the Switch 1 and 2.

The *best* thing is, it could be any and all of the above, and you have to carry a chart with you when you browse the shelves at GameStop

GRANDMA: I'd like to buy my little Billy the new Pokeymans please

GAMESTOP CLERK: Yes ma'am, if you'll please take a seat I'll get the Powerpoint ready

I would have thought Nintendo would have learned how important it was to not confuse your customer base after the WiiU. Everything about the Switch 2 that isn’t seeing the games actively being played on the system makes me sad.

It's entirely possible that it won't be confusing at/after launch for the normies, but right now Nintendo has completely lost control of the online narrative. Every third post on Reddit is outrage or confusion about info that is either simply unclear at the moment or has already been explained/disproven.

I heard they said something on the pricing to the effect of it being "based on how much value" they see it having.

Can't wait for that thousand-dollar Animal Crossing we're going to get, if things get all 2020 up in here again.

They definitely could be doing a better job. But something I've really grown to appreciate more over the last six months is just how incredibly illiterate most people are. There would still be A LOT of chuds confused and moaning online even if Nintendo found the magical anti-confusion formula for perfect PR-speak because the average person literally has the reading comprehension of a 5th grader.

Oh, hey, guess who got sucked into the vortex of US pre-orders being delayed the day before they were supposed to begin because of reasons after I wrecked my sleep schedule to make sure I'd be able to stay up until noon or so trying to get one?

Canada, obviously.

Ugh. Why couldn't they have delayed both at the same time? Or at any time BEFORE the day prior?

From what I've seen on the internet in the past week, apparently it was perfectly reasonable to expect that the new Nintendo handheld was going to output in 4k, compete graphically with PS5, maintain the same 5hr minimum battery life, use game carts that could run at SSD speed and hold 100+ GB titles without costing more, have a 1 TB SSD, an OLED screen, hall effects sticks and buttons, and all of this under $350 in the middle of a fucking trade war. If you disagree with this you're simultaneously a capitalist cuck glazing Nintendo and a woke communist who can't help but make things political.

Maybe this is the wrong thread to complain about it, but I keep feeling like the "core gamer" is an entitled prick more than I'm feeling like Nintendo is a fundamentally predatory entity which values currency at the expense of all else on this one.

Obviously, both are true, and obviously this price point is going to be painful for everyone in this economy. But I'm always irked when people have the gall to complain about "lazy dev" and high price points on A+ projects.

"What do we want?" "A Switch 2!"
"When do we want it?" "As soon as possible!"
"How much do we want to pay for it?" "Whoa, whoa, whoa. Pay?"
