I might have forgotten to mention it here, but I'm honestly just fine with waiting and seeing.

I think Nintendo is just trying to bait everyone into discussing this for the next month, and it turns out to be really simple.

I know I poked fun at the lore angle here but having said that...

The design is a bit ambiguous in terms of age but apparently Pauline is 13 years old in Bananza. So it still works as a prequel, assuming DK is not an old ape and if we assume grown-up Pauline is in her early 20s or so during the events of original Donkey Kong. (No clue if it's a prequel or fits into any notion of a timeline, of course. Just saying it works as a prequel based on what we know so far.)

I hope this game ends with little Pauline and big Pauline signing a duet in a New Donk City nightclub while Donkey and Cranky watch before a third Donkey Kong busts in and kidnaps both of them.

A shadowy figure approaches them from behind, wearing an eye patch and a white onesie.

"I'm Commander DK Jr, and I'd like to talk to both of you about the Kong Initiative."

I initially read this as the third Donkey Kong kidnapping Donkey and Cranky. Which I would be down for instead of the usual cycle.

I appear to be getting a Switch 2 for my birthday. We have to go pick it up an hour away at the closest Best Buy to get them in stock, and apparently that will happen July 2nd. Why they can't just fucking ship it to me, I have no idea, but it was not an option during checkout.

Reinstalled that de-listed SEGA Genesis Classics collection since I moved everything over to my Switch 2 and decided to check it out again, there's plenty of stuff still on there that hasn't made its way to NSO yet. I wish they would update that app more than 1/2 times per year. Using my fancy new console to play Fatal Labyrinth yet again.

I guess they have to paper over the fact that they launched their new console with one game somehow.

I cannot believe how well Pokémon Scarlet & Violet run on Switch 2. The load times are nearly instantaneous. Lag is nonexistent, even in lag lake. I could probably have shaved like 100 hours off my shiny dex had I had a Switch 2 at the time lol

Mario Kart seems fun. I'm glad DK Bonanza comes out soon, though.

I'm going to make a prediction - a lot of kids are going to misspell "bonanza" forever because of this game.

Right, I forgot the pun in the title lol

I'm really, really, really glad you can remap the stupid camera button to, in my case, the Home button. Such a strange place to put it, after years of my muscle memory thinking that is the Home button location.

I got lucky this week. I signed up for Nintendo's waitlist thing to buy a Switch 2. A few days ago I got an email that my chance to order one was available, but it went to my promotions tab in gmail so I didn't get a notification. I happened to be checking my email yesterday and ordered one a day before the chance expired.

Nice!

Very cool. I signed up, too, and got an email last week... but I already got mine from Walmart, haha.

Does anyone know of a game besides the stupid Welcome Tour (which I'm not paying for, I can wait for some other content) that runs at 120 fps on Switch 2? I've quite literally never seen 120 fps so I'm curious if I can even tell...

Ys X Proud Nordics will, supposedly. I think Metroid Prime 4 Beyond will too in docked performance mode...of course, neither of those are out at the moment, so not very helpful.

120hz kinda doesn't matter too much unless you're playing shooters, or very chaotic action games. Having double the frames to work with will help you track what's going on and time your inputs better. Outside of those games, it's not nearly as noticeable.

Also, you need to make sure your TV/monitor even supports those refresh rates at the resolutions you want, or you're not going to see any difference because it's not going to be shown to you at all. My last TV advertised it could handle 120hz, but it only did so at 1080p resolutions or lower. When I wanted to bump things up to 4k res, it locked the refresh rate at 60 and wouldn't go any higher.

Metroid Prime 4 will let you choose between 1080p at 120Hz and 2160p at 60Hz.

Oh I do not have a 120 fps tv, but I was under the impression the handheld Switch 2 LCD could do 120 fps? Is that not the case?
