Here's my business pitch for Nintendo, an FTP server with all their unused roms and like a tip jar up front

Also I appreciate the lack of folders because it means I spend less time arranging and categorizing games that I'll probably never actually get around to playing

At this point, I don't need a lot of the games people are clamoring for - way too many hacked systems, MiSTer, flash carts... I mean how many ways do I need to play? But I can see why folks would want some stuff on Switch, both for the NES/SNESflix service, or a VC option.

It's stupid that my dumb squishbrain looks at the Switch and thinks "I wish I could play Super Mario 2 on this"
That's how I roll. If I have a computing device, it'd better have Mario 3, Super Metroid and Link's Awakening in it or it fails as a computing device

Same reason people make Doom run on trouser presses, basically

Honestly I find the Switch UI just about perfect. I do not want a web browser in it, or anything else really, than what it has. And after a console update bricked my Wii (apparently corrupted the menu, from what I've read) I figure the simpler the better.
I will never allow 'perfect' until I can toggle it to show only games ready to play. Don't make me remember or trial and error what I have digital vs physical!

Looks like Darksiders 3 is getting a Switch port next month;

As the first was “Zelda, except God of War” and the sequel was “Soul Reaver, except Loot Drops”, so too is the third “Dark Souls, except platformer”.

Huh. I always ignored these games, but those descriptions (at least of the first and third games) sound kinda good. Are these worth playing?

I abandoned the first game within ten minutes because I found it so eye-rollingly grimdark, but YMMV

I had no reason to ever play the series until III, which I did Because a Woman Exists, and in that context it was a totally adequate light exploration, light combo fiend, light modern action adventure filtered through the osmosis of Souls trappings kind of game. Master of none, of modest scale and probably developmental circumstances, and competently forgettable; the kind of rental-in-spirit project that doesn't happen too often these days.

I really enjoyed Darksiders III. I know it didn't get a ton of critical acclaim, but I loved it for its sort of PS2-ish action-adventure vibes. It's the sort of AA/A-level project that was more common in that era.

I liked the first one a lot because it's Gratuitously Edgy Ocarina of Time (and that's hilarious), but none of the sequels' mashups sounded appealing enough for me to take a chance on.

Darksiders 2 is the one I played, and it's astoundingly fun. It's very much a melange of other games: soul reaver with loot drops is accurate, but add Prince of Persia wall running and terrain navigation, surprisingly deep but not intimidating DmC character action style combat with different weapons that play differently, and the aforementioned Zelda dungeons.

When I played it, I accidentally beat an optional boss a dozen levels before I should have with some practice and Capcom-boss style pattern recognition and later found out I was underleveled. I think that's a pretty solid indicator that the game's got legs.

The first one was an incredibly good Zelda clone, even if it was just as incredibly stupid 90s Image comic book bullshit otherwise.

IIRC, Darksiders 2 suffered from some padding issues in my opinion. I enjoyed them both though. I have 3 but have yet to try it.

Oh I need that. Please tell me it’s a good Star Fox alike.
