I really like it when media slows down and lets you kinda get to know characters through their mundane, everyday actions. It's something that American media has problems with in general, especially cape-stuff where historically it's about flashy action first and foremost. So I kinda like to watch that kind of stuff, and I think it's extra novel in cape-stuff. So the scenes with say, Bucky, were pretty fun to me. The problem with this show is two fold however, and it both stems from the thing I said I liked, being a double edged sword. If you're going to slow down and spend some mundane moments with characters, you'd better make sure the characters you're spending all this time with aren't boring, and that I care about them. And being a more casual Marvel fan without a history with the characters from years of comics, I just don't really have a lot of interest in these characters yet and don't know them. Maybe by later in the show, but not at the moment. Pretty risky for this show I think.I don't mean to be dismissive of this show, but that first episode watched like the first hour of a lesser Marvel sequel. Not unenjoyable, but not a lot there besides a slick production. Its fine, I hope it gets better.
I'm fully vaccinated now, so I could probably go see this in person so long as mutant strains don't set us back. But I am also a lover of cuddling up in the comfort of my own home, wrapped in a blanket, instead of being surrounded by gross strangers in a freezing cold theater. $30 is a lot for one viewing, until you realize that $30 is basically just the price of two tickets, and I don't know the last time I went to a movie by myself. Price seems valid to me.As a lover of both the Marvel Cinematic Universe and of not dying on a respirator, I will happily fork over $30 to watch Nat murk some fools in the safety and comfort of my own home. Join me, won't you?
How can a psychologist ever know if a superhero is delusional?
To each their own. People gladly pay $30 to watch a movie with misaligned projectors, uncomfy seats with jerks periodically kicking the back of, cramped knee-room, people throwing food/checking their phones/having conversations during the movie, and paying a king's ransom for some basic-ass snacks. For my money, I can get a superior experience at home. And I don't even have to put on pants!Yeah, $30 is OK when there's a big screen, popcorn and getting out of the house and sitting in the dark focussed entirely on the film. Take away those things and no thanks.
$30 is awful steep for a rental of a film that'll be free for all subscribers in a few months. I might be willing to wait on this one.
Bloody hell, your cinemas must suckTo each their own. When other people's reactions line up with mine, sure. It's nice to all be laughing at the same thing. But there are very few things worse than a dramatic, serious, emotional moment happening in a movie you're getting invested in, and some asshole starts snickering or laughing or snoring in the seat behind you. That was a genuine reaction to their experience, but it ruined mine. And it happens a lot.I don't know how you could love the theater but hate the sound of others genuinely reacting to a film.
Yeah, but how else am I going to spend an evening with a date or friends where it's socially acceptable for me to ignore them for two hours? That’s why I only go to the theatre on weekday afternoons; crowds are small and anyone who shows up truly wants to watch the movie
