We got a Smash Bros thread:

The "Hopefully up to par with other ports" patch for The Outer Worlds is coming out next week

I'll take them to their word that it's a visual overhaul, but it's like a Find The Difference puzzle looking at a comparison screen

There's a lot more foliage in the first one, and possibly the skybox is better too. If you look at the building on the left in the second picture there's a lot more geometry going on there too.

It'll be interesting to see the difference

If they're restoring the vegetation to be more or less like the other releases I think that's a big improvement. I am extremely not sensitive to frame rates personally, but taking out a lot of plants really seemed to change the character of the world whenever I saw comparison videos.

I’m just hoping they fix up the pop up myself.

Stood directly in front of a sign and have to wait about five seconds before it becomes readable

So it seems my joycon is finally starting to act up: the right stick will drift slightly and move the camera in BOTW when I'm not touching it, and the left joycon will just like, lock up for a few seconds and not accept any inputs?

So what would I have to do to get it replaced by Nintendo? Or what I'm really wanting is a 3rd party controller for Switch specifically so I can still use the share button and the motion sensor. I've got a WiiU Pro and adapter for it, but that's not quite adequate as a full-on replacement for the joycon.

Nintendo of America does it for free. Just fill out the form and send them in! They even pay for shipping.

You may be able to buy yourself a little time by recalibrating the stick.

Electrical contact cleaner will also work. Lift up the flap at the base, spray it there. Eventually you'll have to send it in, but it'll buy you a while.

"I don't think most people play it both modes" - I think that's probably correct. I play it 95% docked. If I'm playing handheld, it's usually because I'm on vacation.

"I think most Switch owners play it handheld only" - I'm not so sure about that.

Mostly I play it docked but if I'm on a roadtrip or away from home I'll play it handheld. It being both is 100% a good and useful thing for me.

Yeah, Pachter's talking out of his hat on this one. The non switching Switch is still outsold pretty heavily by the original, I believe, so clearly it does indeed add value. I get value out of both, I only play it handheld when the telly is occupied.

I mean Pachter is always talking out of his arse when it comes to Nintendo. Dude’s never been right once.

The problem is market analysts aren’t paid to be factually right. They are paid to convince investors to buy/sell stocks. Considering most investors are older, non gaming types, it’s probably an easy flim flam to tell them bs about Nintendo that meets their preconceived notions about other industries (like Nintendo should make a HD Wii or make the Switch more like a mobile device) to raise or short stocks as desired.

It’s also likely most investors don’t recognize Pachter by name the same way Nintendo fans do, so his track record is probably irrelevant.

Pachter used to have this weekly show on GameTrailers back in the day. It was kinda fun, as I recall-- the guy can be entertaining sometimes.

Anyway, I do remember him answering a question about what he actually does, but I don't remember the answer itself.

It seems to all be archived on YouTube, but sadly, I don't know which one has the question. Still, if anyone is curious...

So I now have 850 My Nintendo platinum points with some expiring soon, which is enough to buy almost anything in the physical goods section... now I just need to decide if I want to spend five bucks shipping on any of them. Considering the classic Mario zipper case, I wonder if it's sturdy enough to hold up to regular use.

Curious if al la carte cloud titles are going to become more of a thing on the Switch in the future. Also, what cloud tech are Hitman and Control using under the hood?

The DS/3DS chibi style but with High Fidelity Gamer Textures for fabrics and stuff of Bravely Default 2 looks like it's a mid-2000s Dreamworks adaptation of Thunderbirds puppets or something.
