Yeah, when they released that AR RC car Mario Kart game a while back I took that as a signal they have no intention to release Mario Kart 9 on the Switch as long as 8 Deluxe is still selling gangbusters.

I guess making a whole games worth of DLC tracks works too.

Looks like they're all from Mario Kart Tour. Which, to be honest, freeing them from a free-to-play phone game is the main thing I hoped out of all of this so today I am feasting like a king who will be served a bill for $25 for his meal

However, I'm trepidate about this new Forgotten Land update. I always feel a pit in my stomach when I see a car run at full speed into the kirb

Chrono Cross and Live A Live were hinted at for a while, but I was pleasantly surprised to see the former is getting paired with a Radical Dreamers localization and the latter is an Octopathy remake thingy.

Also woot Front Mission

Live A Live got leaked on an Australian ratings board a while back, some musicians leaked Cross, and Jenna Coleman leaked Xenoblade 3 last year

No Metroid Prime Trilogy announcement :C

But I'll accept Front Mission, Mother, Xenoblade Chronicles 3, and Fire Emblem Three Dynasties

The Klonoa collection is astounding to me. It's not just compiling two of the best platformers of their generation or any other, but both receiving a grand old unified in aesthetic remake treatment. The first game was already remade for Wii, and they could've just chosen to upscale that, but they're really going for something deliberate here. I'm so excited.

Mech media and tactical RPGs are usually anathema to me, but I'm still blown away by the prospect of seeing Front Mission 2 in English at last. All those Jun Suemi character designs are going to see the light of day.

Live A Live is more of a neutral and detached appreciation for me--not fond of HD-2D as a vehicle for these restorations, and the source material is this sweeping anthology entirely about men. Snooze.

Xenoblade Chronicles 3 is notable to me mainly in that it's the first time in the series's history that the clothing design actually seems pretty decent.

Chrono Cross seems like it can't really miss. Radical Dreamers as a "bonus" is already incredibly compelling, but as far as the remaster options they're offering here... it seems pretty unprecedented. You can switch between upscaled backgrounds, character models, portraits and text to the original assets or approximations thereof in how they're making it sound... they've never allowed these kinds of options before, and a pixelated font is a selling point on its own to me.

I'm glad they're doing a public beta of Not Wii Sports because I'm cautious of it but want to try it out.

Anyway, gonna download that new Triangle Strategy demo and will definitely be getting Three Warrior Houses.

Getsufumaden certainly looks cool, haven't heard of that one before so going to read up on it.

I played the fan translation of Live A Live last year. It was a good game, but it definitely could have used some cleaning up in a couple of places, so I look forward to any QoL changes they make in the remake.

I will not stand for this Musou slander.

Sometimes you wanna get into an intense, sweaty, battle of wits and reaction-times. Sometimes you want to be able to intricately plan out your enemy's demise down to the tiniest of details.

And sometimes, you just wanna vege, pop an edible, and watch entire armies effortlessly keel over and die to your sword while you mindlessly smash A repeatedly.

It's not for everyone, but they're a good time. It usually helps if you have an interest in the property they're tying into. Some ppl are history buffs. Some people like Zelda. Some people like Gundam. Some people like Fist of the North Star. Some people like Fire Emblem. Just gotta find the right flavored one for you. (I would lap up a Final Fantasy musou game.)

Twitter has taken to calling Metroid Dread's rookie mode "Jaffe Mode". The internet is never gonna let him down, are they?

Front Mission 2 is pretty exciting, but the first game is pretty shallow. I'm curious to see if they overhaul much about it -- it looks pretty faithful at a glance, but it's been a while since I played the original. At the very least the combat scene looks as dull as ever. I hope you can turn them off and that they have decent map animations if you do.

Kazin

did i do all of that?

I have never played a Front Mission or Live A Live and have barely touched Chrono Cross so this rules

I have nothing against musou games but also zero interest in ever playing them, and this seeming trend of musou sequels to turn-based games is a little worrying to me personally (Fate, Persona, now Fire Emblem). Like sure, make a musou spinoff or crossover or nonsense fanservice chaos, whatever, just don't suddenly do a radical genre change for a direct continuation please

FM1 is a little mechanically shallow compared to the rest of the franchise, but the prospects of a remake is news to my ears. Esp since the game engine they show seems custom tailored to just plug & play FM2 and 3 into it eventually. The Front Mission series has, for a long time, allowed for fast forwarding/skipping the battle animations, so I can't see that not being a feature here either. FM2 in particular is extremely hype, because we've never gotten that over here, and that game played like absolute donkey piss on the PSX. So a full remake where there's little to no loading times is gonna be wonderful. If these two do well, I'm hoping they'll keep the ball rolling. FM3 might be the black sheep in Japan but it's an incredible game and everyone should get a chance to experience it.

Live A Live is one of those games I've always meant to try, and I'm excited to be able to now with ease. Same with Radical Dreamers. I feel like I'm finally being seen by Squeenix/Ninty ☺️
