I'm happy to pay a little extra for a chance at some N64 games that I've either never finished/never played (Majora's Mask, Sin & Punishment) or would otherwise never play again. I might even spring for the controller for this one, since its design is so intrinsic to the 64 experience.

Octopus Prime

Sin & Punishment is honestly the only N64 game I would considering paying a premium for, and they were smart enough to include it in the reveal.

That’s Nintendo for ya; they know which buttons to press

SpoonyBard

Threat Rhyme
(He/Him)
I'd fork over the cash immediately if they announced the Goemon games. Not only have they never been re-issued, as far as I'm aware you still can't emulate them completely faithfully. There's either lag, or stuttering, or texture issues, or something that sours the experience.

If I'm paying extra for the service, I'd like it to have regular monthly updates that are clearly communicated ( X number of N64 games each month, X number of Genesis games per month).

As this is Nintendo, I absolutely know this is not going to happen and I'll be paying extra for random games every other month (of which the Japanese releases will frequently be much better games)

As cool as a Bluetooth N64 controller would be to have, I doubt I'll buy one. First off, $50 seems like a lot, and second, I don't want to pay extra for the subscription to get access to N64 games when I ALREADY PAID FOR THEM ON THE @#$%@ WII.

That said, $50 for an N64 controller seems like a lot, but $50 for a three-button Genesis controller is absolutely bonkers.

Phantoon

I cuss you bad
The Genesis controller is, just like that N64 controller, only there for fun and novelty, not for some kind of maximized emulation experience. It is very stupid and, ironically, very Nintendo.

I'm not going to buy it, but you just know that in like 15 years a complete in box Switch Genesis controller will cost like $800 on the used market.
I have to disagree here. The Genesis controller isn't really important for the experience, but the N64 controller absolutely is. No modern controller replicates that. C buttons are buttons, and a stick doesn't cut it.

I've never played Actraiser but that certainly looks fun, I'll certainly be wishlisting it for now. Glad to (finally) see Brewster showing up and curious what other new content might be coming. That was a perfectly fine Direct for me, updates on stuff like Triangle Strategy that I already know I'm buying and a few things I'm curious about.

Some made the idea of trying to play Mischief Makers with a second analogue stick and it made me sick

Gyroids are probably likely since they were hinted at in the same datamine that hinted at Brewster ages ago and he has some history with them.

But in general, at the very least I'm expecting some more coffee-related goods to return or be added to the game, maybe bring back the part-time job from New Leaf.

The Roost also tends to be a place where service characters occasionally show up, so I could see it potentially being used for cameos of characters who've yet to make a physical appearance but exist in text form (The Resetti Bros. come to mind) or even ones who haven't shown up at all yet.

Could even be used as an alternate venue for K.K. Slider for those days when there's a fishing or bug tourney.

The closest I could imagine to making that work with a non-N64 controller is one of those Retro-bit Saturn controllers with the added analog sticks

Even if not with Brewster, I think it's inevitable that Gyroids will come back eventually. Lloid and Coco are both still around, and the li'l clay figures still have a huge presence in the mobile game.

So I watched the Kirby trailer and that was the first vidya game trailer in a long-ass time to make me literally gasp "WHAT!!?! :D" out loud, when Kirby turned into a porcupine Katamari.

That was a pretty good Direct, but then again I've never really been disappointed by one since there was always a couple of games that would catch my interest. The highlights for me this time are:
Voice of Cards - This gave me strong Crimson Shroud vibes when revealed and playing the demo reinforced those feelings so I'm definitely grabbing this.
Triangle Strategy - I've had fun playing every Team Asano game released on the Switch so far and hopefully this one continues the streak.
Castlevania Advance Collection - I missed out on the GBA Castlevania games back in the day so I'm looking forward to correcting that soon.
ActRaiser Renaissance - This may be a TT sin, but I've never played ActRaiser. My only knowledge about this game before the internet came from my cousin who considered this one of the few good Nintendo games (he was a big Sega fan back then) so this is another I'll be picking up alongside Castlevania.
Bayonetta 3 - I've only played the first game in the series, but this looked fun so it's on my list.
Splatoon 3 - My key highlight of the Direct; every since the first game Splatoon has become my favorite Nintendo series and I'm looking forward to getting the old TT team together for this entry.

For some reason they keep doing this in America and Europe. Japan is getting a six button version.
I would bet money it's because Retro-bit is selling their officially licensed 6-button Genesis (as well as Saturn) pads. They probably have exclusive rights. And I mean exclusive, given that even SEGA themselves seem to be abiding by it.

I have one of those and they are cool but they are wired =(

Yeah, I was just about to say that mine is wireless. Works with my PC, Genesis Mini, and I think it works with Switch, too?

Edit: Okay, no, my bad. I remembered wrong, they apparently do not. So in this case... hnn. That sucks.

I have the six-button wired Genesis controller and it does work with Switch, but in a twist of deeply cruel irony, it doesn't work properly with the Genesis collection you can get on Switch. The controller works as a controller, but the collection doesn't allow remapping of buttons. So the C and Z buttons are permanently set to the fast-forward/rewind features and so forth. It's very frustrating.

Yay! So no need for a 8BitDo controller, either...

...so we're paying the extra fee for Nintendo Switch Online only to have those buttons correctly mapped? Clever of them.

You can remap buttons at the hardware level via the settings and create a special profile just for that controller, I think.

You can do this with many controllers on the Switch settings, but I don't think the retrobit one is compatible. I may have to try it again. It's only reason I have that controller!

Isn't this like the second time in one year Nintendo had to communicate directly to investors that a Bloomberg report about a 4K Switch nearing completion was bogus? Between this and their faulty reporting on alleged PS5 production issues, one would think people wouldn't take Bloomberg game rumor reporting at face value anymore...

Edit: I think that last sentence gave the wrong impression, so my apologies. My intent in posting this was discussing people over hyping hypothetical 4k upgrades that we may not see for a long time, not to attack journalists.
