Tunak Tunak Tun. These Chains is great, but I absolutely adore TTT in all its incarnations. I've been walking around humming it within the last week, completely unrelated to any external influence.

Oh my gosh, the drummer on Tunak Tunak Tun just awkwardly standing there moving his hair and getting called out for it, then getting curry in the Mario level instead of a mushroom. Making this into a metal song is badass and I did judge independently of the video but the video is so freaking great.
I don't know the terminology, but These Chains is just very sharp and jarring to me. A lot of the bells and electronic sounds made me jump as I was listening to it and I wasn't able to get through it.

Here are Sæglópur’s Icelandic lyrics (I’m leaving out the part of the song that’s in Vonlenska, or “Hopelandic,” which is Jónsi’s own personal invented language):
And here’s an English translation. The machine translations I’ve seen around seem a little off to me, with sites disagreeing and pointing to each other in circles. So, I’ve fiddled a bit with some Icelandic resources on the web, and hopefully this comes closer to the meaning. For example, it appears that the word “sæglópur” itself was coined for the song—it seems to be a mix of a poetic Icelandic word for “sea” (sær) and one that’s cognate with the English “stranded” (strandaglópur). Glópur by itself just means “a fool.” So, interpret that how you will.
Incidentally, though Icelandic isn’t nearly as easy to translate online (say) French or German, it’s telling that it’s there are so many more Internet resources for Icelandic, a language with about three hundred thousand native speakers, than there are for Fon, which has over two million speakers.
