Felt a lot more like Indiana Jones tbh. The battle on top of the truck was basically just an Indiana Jones scene with a palate swap. That's to say nothing about theAfter two seasons of westerns and Samurai Jack, this one was Mad Max.
I also love his deer-in-the-headlights look he gives the officer when he doesn't know what to answer. Although props to Pedro Pascal for making Mando emote even with his helmet on. It's like the art of sentai filmaking getting its long overdue recognition. He's Mando! He can do what he wants
It's easy to forget, but it's a TV budget and they've never pulled this off in a movie either. If it's a choice between recast or CGI, it's CGI every time for me. And Bo-Katan lost the Darksaber and therefore isn't eligible without proving herself again. And I don't believe she exactly won it the other time either.I thought the fake Luke looked bad, honestly. And I thought Bo-Katan had gotten past needing to prove herself by earning the Darksaber in Rebels, but this is more dramatic I guess.
Still, enjoyed watching this.
I know it's hard but this just points to maybe they could have done this same story without it being Luke, and if they had gone that way they could have made it a better scene. We only accept it as is because we as the audience know who Luke is.It's easy to forget, but it's a TV budget and they've never pulled this off in a movie either. I don't understand this argument. Bo-Katan's arc means nothing to people who haven't watched Clone Wars and Rebels. To people who have, it's repeating itself.I mean, we did, but probably ~2/3 of the people watching this show? Did not. I only saw Rebels, not CW, so a lot of this Mandalorian stuff is fairly new to me. This is Disney+'s big-tent show, and it's hitting ALL the buttons for people who are familiar with Star Wars to any extent. Luke's for the people who've mostly seen the movies. Ahsoka is for Rebels and CW fans, along with Bo-Katan. Dark Troopers are very specifically for people who have played some decades-old computer games. Boba Fett's for almost everyone.
I can't disagree with this more strongly. It's Luke Skywalker. Who on earth could match the impact of that? And he's the only character who makes actual sense turning up. It's a huge, barely repeatable event. You're getting hung up on the fact that it looks a bit janky because Hamill has aged. Swap Ezra in and one, it doesn't work, and two, who?I know it's hard but this just points to maybe they could have done this same story without it being Luke, and if they had gone that way they could have made it a better scene. Ok then. Give me somebody that shows up that isn't a disappointing deus ex machina. It's not "look at thing you remember" it's "what does this mean for the larger story"Yeah cool we all love things we've seen before. Why develop the story when you can just give us the man we like
