Lakupo

Comes and goes with the wind

I've still been watching to keep up with the going-ons, and I think I'm still vaguely interested in some of the plot stuff (although I am tired of Moff Gideon and he hasn't even shown up yet), but oh man the dialogue is so clunky at times. Way more blatantly expository dialogue than before from everyone: Din, Bo-Katan, etc., and often redundant information from the last scene, like "Don't attack them or they'll hurt the child" Next scene: "Remember, don't attack or they'll hurt the child", the scene after that "Don't shoot or they'll hurt the child!"

Then I remember that people used to talk a lot less on this show.

This is, as they say, the way. Very niche, but Mando dialog reminds me of later era Gene Wolfe dialog, where people talk in stilted cadence that is nothing like modern humans converse. The difference is that Wolfe uses that as a technique to obscure intentions and information, while the masked crew is just obscuring their faces and using catch phrases.

You would've thought that a society that foregoes all of the nuances that faces and even body language can convey in communicating would have evolved a more eloquent form of prose to make up for it. Instead, they're like if a group of blind people also decided they would all wear noise canceling earplugs. I guess you could argue their Way is more efficient because they have eschewed complexities, but it also makes them simple characters.

I just realized that Keanu Reeves' vocal cadence is right in line with the Mandalorians. It's fine seeing comedians and prequel/animated actor cameos, but give me a John Wick analog, with a guest director of Chad Stahelski to choreograph some good fight scenes.

Great episode tonight. I thought the Harry Potter logic was going to come back at some point this season. Also some very fun cameos. Also also wik if I’m not mistaken, with Christoper Lloyd showing up today, aside from disembodied cartoon voices, this breaks the dam on Star Trek actors not appearing in Star Wars and visa versa, correct? Great actor to do so btw. I love them so much. 😭

Rascally Badger

El Capitan de la outro espacio
(He/Him)
Only one of the guests were spoiled for me, and seeing another was the most surprised I've been watching a Star War since I learned that Darth Vader is Luke's father.

Sarcasmorator

Same as I ever was
(He/him)
Really enjoyed this one. The cameos were fun, the "droid hijinks" plot was goofy in a great way. I'd been wondering about him losing the saber to that spider thing since the second episode, and I'm glad to see that this mattered—not that he was forced to give it up, but that it gave him an out he clearly wanted to take. Din doesn't want to lead his people; he doesn't even want a permanent home. He's a wanderer, knight errant, ronin, Mad Max, what have you. And his relationship with Bo-Katan has been solid; a showdown between them for the saber wouldn't have made much sense. So he finds a way to pass along the legendary weapon of office to his friend without further violence or loss of life, because that is what has led to so much grief already. Good stuff.

Octopus Prime

Mysterious Contraption
(He/Him)
I think the biggest surprise of this episode was saying that Count Dooku was cut down “in the prime of his life”.

I’d question that statement, but I would never question Doc Brown, so you can see my dilemma

Sure but it's also kind of just an interesting idea to begin with. Like, the hindsight of Republic being corrupt and easily manipulated into turning into the Empire - which are obviously superbad - the cause of the Separatists appears retroactively to be much more valid.

Yeah, seeing the Separatist side is potentially really interesting. I thought Andor might do it, but I can't really complain about what we did get

Well. That felt like a series finale, not a season finale.

I’d be perfectly content if they just ended things here. Not really sure where they’d take things next season. (I don’t think Disney knows either)

Adrenaline

Post Reader
(He/Him)
I am reminded of the thing in Rick and Morty where they keep talking about wanting to do more classic standalone adventures but are always sucked into deep lore crap

Phantoon

I cuss you bad
That's exactly what they're doing. They set up the other 57 Star Wars series, now they can get back to some proper Mando action
