EXPOSITION DUMP
SET #1
1.) What is the ‘80s-est song?
"Time After Time," by Cyndi Lauper.
2.) What’s the best condiment for French fries?
Garlic aioli, although malt vinegar is no slouch.
3.) Suppose that your name was going to be used as a unit of measurement (like the volt, the watt, the pascal, the gauss, etc.) What would it be a measure of?
This one already got determined for me, actually. When I was in my MA program, my friends used to use my last name as a measure of the spiciness of food.
4.) If there were a triband flag of you, what colors would it use and in what order? Vertical or horizontal?
Horizontal. From top to bottom, royal blue, forest green, white.
5.) What’s your favorite body of water? Fictional ones count.
Lake Michigan.
SET #2
1) What magazines have you had subscriptions to?
In rough chronological order, Discover, Nintendo Power, Scientific American, my undergrad university alumni magazine, the Journal of the American Academy of Religion, Zygon, and my Ph.D. university alumni magazine.
2) Where do you work out?
Until relatively recently I used to have a subscription to a local gym, but I finally got real and admitted to myself that (1) I hated exercising while masked and (2) I wasn't going to feel comfortable being in a gym while unmasked for the foreseeable future. So, these days I exercise at home and on a path that runs by a local canal.
3) Which video game shoot 'em up would make the best movie?
Are we using the strict, videogame-centric definition of shoot-'em-up? If so, Fantasy Zone. If we're including FPS's, Half Life.
4) What would be your 90s-style hacker name?
dark_blue
5) Which is your favourite basketball player?
Steve Kerr. I get a kick out of the fact that he's a really successful coach now.
SET #3
1) Which is your favourite Star Wars movie?
The Last Jedi. I'm tempted to say more, but at times like this I have to remind myself of my rule: I will discuss politics on the Internet. I will discuss religion on the Internet. I will not discuss Star Wars on the Internet.
2) If you were a genie, where would you live?
In an old book.
3) Which beat-em-up would you most like to live in?
I gotta go with Octo here: Scott Pilgrim seems like most livable of the available options.
4) What is your most eaten fruit?
Apples. Grapes are probably second.
5) What's the earliest rap album you remember getting into?
If we're counting trip-hop as rap, Massive Attack's "Mezzanine." Otherwise, "The Miseducation of Lauryn Hill."
