You can save it as a .gif or whatever you like -- go to File, and "Export as," and select what you want (the selections might be minimized by default).

And instead of selecting, you could just manually change the extension. (Trying to do this under Save As will have the program tell you GIFs require the Export menu, and will helpfully direct you there.)

I discovered my home computer has Photoshop, which made things much easier (I still can't get paint.net to install here).

EDIT: I was able to add a gate to the map without stealing it from anyone else! Progress! I'm still not exactly clear on how to move layers between the spellbook file and the map file, though.

I just went through it step by step in GIMP, and it's really straightforward there. Open both the map and the spellbooks file, select the spellbooks file, go to the layer you want (the spellbook name), select it in the Layer window, and drag it from there onto the map. From there, you can move it wherever you like.

GIMP also allows you to just click on the items you want in the map file itself instead of having to select them in the Layer window first, so you can just click on and move your units directly there (if you do this to copy a spell over from the spellbook, though, it drops behind the other layers instead of in front, so drag it from the Layers window for best results). Works great, easier than PS even for this purpose. I should have started with this instead of Paint.net.

Speaking only for myself, I'd have no problem with that; my understanding of the rules is that if you don't have any power, you can't take any actions, even if they cost 0 power. I suppose that in theory Sarcasmorator could use Devolve after Periodical's turn, or after any of your actions, but that would seem to be kind of pointless at the moment. I'm not sure if anyone else can take any actions during your turns, but I don't think they can right now.

I'd suggest that in the interests of keeping things moving along, you can go ahead and post your next move(s). If anyone has the ability and inclination to interrupt your turn, they can post before we start the next round; if no one interrupts, at least you'll have finished up your turn and Sarcasmorator can get everything prepped for the next round whenever he has the opportunity.

Yes, if you're the only one with power, go ahead and take your turn. If I *really* wanted to devolve or something, I'd interject after the fact. If your strategy might hinge on the possibility of another player reacting to you, then hold off.

We are on to Round 2, in the Gather Power phase.

I have 6 cultists and control 3 gates, so Cthulhu gains 12 power.

In future rounds, maybe it would work better for me (or anyone who gets to it first, really) to just list the power all at once, and people can check their totals in case I make a mistake?

Black Goat hasn't sounded off (but is at 8 power, I think), but by my count I think we're going to have a 3-way tie here, which means I get to choose first player. And I choooose ... myself! But turn order's going to go to the left this time.
