Last time I tried it, there was no controller support, and they dropped the number of lives you got on a continue substantially and sent you back to the map instead of where you died.

Is it still like that?

I'm 100% sure I played it with a controller. Xbox One, just seemed to work.

I definitely played it through with a controller. That being said I DID have a problem with the number of lives and continues. I don't think you can replay older stages, and the game saves how many continues and lives you have left. That left me at the final stage with two lives and no continues, so I never finished it.

I've been wanting to go back and see if there's been an update (it was a while ago), or at the very least play through it again and try to save some lives. I wanted to try lots of different characters, but I think the second time through I would stick to ones that I was comfortable with, so maybe I won't die so much.

Even with those problems, it's an amazing fangame. And on the guy's YouTube channel, he seems to be remaking Fall of the Foot Clan now.

The 80s cartoon Turtles are my favorite version of the Turtles. I'm hyper stoned for this.

I would have preferred a straight up attempt to mimic the 80s cartoon over pixelated graphics, but that is a minor complaint. The pixelated graphics and animation that is there looks great.

The redone cartoon intro was pretty great. Definitely liked the love for April and Splinter in the trailer.

I didn't realize until I saw Alex Navarro call it out that that's Mike Patton singing the new rendition of the theme song.

I love that they hired Mike Patton, but I hate how they changed the rhythm of the whole "Leonardo leads, Donatello does machines" part. It makes him emphasize a bunch of syllables that shouldn't be emphasized and it sounds super awkward to me.

Okay, so not just me then.

This game is already great because it gave us Mike Patton singing the Turtles theme. Anything else is gravy.

My brain had logged her as playable already so I was so confused yesterday when my spouse told me about this. Man this looks great.

The most amazing thing IMO is that it's been long enough since the 80s cartoon that April's yellow jumpsuit looks like something someone would actually wear now.

What caught my eye is April frantically shaking her arm when the Mouser clamps onto it (GETITOFFGETITOFFGETITOFF!), and also the tandem attacks apparently cribbed from Konami's Simpsons game. I wonder what all you'll be able to do with these?

This looks awesome!

As an aside, I still get songs from Konami's TMNTII and III stuck in my head on a regular basis. Great soundtracks!

Weirdly enough, April as playable gave me a momentary adolescent reaction of "NO! APRIL IS NOT A FIGHTER!! DIDN'T THEY WATCH THE CARTOON?!?" then I realised how fucking horrible that impulse was and punished myself by witholding Diet Pepsi

I just assumed she was taking self-defense lessons with the turtles. Considering the number of times per week they get attacked, it's probably a good investment!

In spite of appearances this game takes place in the Genesis Tournament Fighters universe

Weirdly, this makes April out to be a better fighter than the Turtles, between her incredible acrobatics and what is presumably damage on par with katanas coming from her microphone.

I'm OK with a headcanon of "the Turtles are not very good ninjas and April is unexpectedly skilled for a journalist," though.

I've drawn blood with a microphone before.

It was my own, but still. They can be real pointy!

I just happened to pause the trailer while April was doing her spin attack with her back to the camera, and there is some junk in that trunk.

Her head seems weirdly big, too. Like, is she supposed to be chibi or something? Maybe it's the hair.

All of her proportions do seem a bit off. Makes me wonder if she is just a skin that is placed over the standard turtle model.

So if she was in the trailer fighting and later announced as a character, that suggests the same will likely be true for Splinter, right? Or did they already announce him as playable?
