Rockman 3 Stalker Attack - Man With the Machine Gun works surprisingly well for Spark Man's stage! Chocobo Theme for Top Man less so.

8 masters, 1 Docbot, and Proto Man is how we count MM3, right?

646 I think.

Okay, going to have to tweak the rules a bit for Super Alloy Ranger since, charitably, maybe three of its dozen or so bosses pass the Robot Master smell test, but the game plays like Mega Man and most of them drop off new weapons when you clear a thematic level so I'm counting it for twelve regardless.
All in all, if you're looking for a low budget Mega Man knock-off, you could certainly do worse. Levels were expansive, but not labyrinthian; felt like the first couple of Duke Nukems, really.

As my list winds down, the anime ramps up

Mega Man Zero - 16 (Aztec Calcon, 9 Bosses, Hanumachine, Pantheon Ace, Asura Basura, Herculious Anchus, Rainbow Devil, Copy X)
Mega Man Zero 2 - 12 (8 Bosses, Kuwagust Anchus, Rainbow Devil Mk-2, Anchus Duo, Elpizo)
Mega Man Zero 3 - 14 (8 Bosses, Anubis V, Hanumachine R, Blizzack Staggroff R, Hidden Phantom, Copy X 2, Omega-3)
Mega Man Zero 4 - 9 (8 Einherjar, Craft)
Mega Man ZX - 22 (8 Bosses, Girouette, Prometheus, Pandora, P&P, Serpent, N-Z3 Bosses, N-Z4 Bosses, Omega)
Mega Man ZX Advent - 15 (8 Bosses, Atlas, Siarnaq, Thetis, Aeolus, Vent, P&P, Master Albert 2)
Mega Man: The Power Battle - 18
Mega Man 2: The Power Fighters - 18

Currently on the docket next:
Azure Striker Gunvolt/Limunous Avenger iX/Mighty Gunvolt. After that. Shovel Knight 4 times, then the Touhoumans - Megamari, Sanae Toumaden, UDONGIEN X, and Rosenkreustilette

After that, if I can't find any more...
....
......

.....mighty....number 9.

I've added Mega Man 4 to the list, although it involved significant use of the MMLC rewind feature and heavy E-Tank guzzling against Wily Machine 2.

Rockman 5 Double Jumper - nice polished design with some unique ideas I'd like to see harvested in other projects, like the Energy Converter, a secret item that makes health pickups restore lowest weapon energy if you're at full vitality. And brother does double jumping allow for some shenanigans that feel borderline broken in a Mega Man game, even when the design accounts for it. Good times.

8 masters and 4 dork men that's 802 if my math's right!!

Add Megas Man 1 and 2 to the pile for another 15.

Like a doofus, I forgot about the pause trick on MM1, but I at least remembered the rewind button. The physics in MM1 are quite different from the rest of the series: Rock has more acceleration/deceleration, and he drops like his namesake. I think that's a big reason why the Guts lifts feel so bad: in any other game, you'd have a brief window after the platform starts to fall where you could still jump.

I had a half hour to kill before the vikings play so I played some mega man 2. Stopped at wily 1 so only add 8 but I’d like the record to show I played on my arcade cabinet with some sticky controls and questionable emulation and still beat quickman’s stage without the flash stopper.

I've been running through the challenges on MMLC. I'm not going to count every robot master I found along the way, but I'm definitely counting the buster-only clear of the eight MM2 robot masters, because it was quite the challenge. Air Man was a learning experience, and Crash Man was trickier than I expected given his easily-manipulated behavior.

I’m on to 30XX and it’s proving to stall me out; game is Fun and Gorgeous but it is also tougher than expected

I had to get some footage of specifically Mega Man (1), and then never stopped until peace was restored. So please add an appropriate number of robot masters to the tally.

I just happened to feel like replaying Shovel Knight this month and oh yeah, the whole Order of No Quarter count for this don't they.

Okay, 30XX is down. Excellent follow up to a game I already loved; Mega Mode makes it play even Mega Mannier, since the levels, while randomized, remain the same on multiple runs, and it had some pretty neat ideas, like combining Boss Weapons giving you a potential arsenal of 64 possible sub-weapons.

Anyway, that's 12 more so 868!

I got my NGPC Selection Vol. 2 in the mail, so I did Rockman Power Fighters on the MM1-2 path, so add six more to the pile.
