The Trailer Thread - Room with a Preview

Why yes I do want to see a bunch of wild volcano footage from a scientist couple (although the woman was the main scientist I believe) who died doing what they loved. I have definitely read about the Kraffts in passing but didn't know that much.

Apparently it's only in theaters right now but should start streaming in August.

There's a full trailer for the Munsters movie now. I don't want to poison the well for anybody, but I'm not excited about this one.

I'm not even talking about the sets or make up. That's fine. The film's look in terms of camera quality and ADR looks and sounds very The Asylum.

I will never not love that some executive in 1998 heard Dragula and was like "this song fuckin' melts. This song is so good, we should let this guy reboot Halloween" and then Rob Zombie had a film career.

I know people who are fans of Rob Zombie's film work and I am glad they enjoy it, but there is nothing in any second I've seen of his movies that made me want to see any more. The Munsters does not seem that changing that.

Watching the Dungeons and Dragons trailer makes me think Hasbro turned to Paramount and said, "You know those Avengers movies, with the snarky dialog and the big-budget special effects? Make one of those, but with our characters in it."

Am I the only one who thinks the movie looks very bad for this exact reason? Like, it feels extremely weird that all the characters speak contemporary English. I don't want D&D pretending to be directed by Taika Waititi. I feel like everyone on the internet is losing their shit over this trailer and I just don't get it.

Look, there's D&D the Ideal, and then there's D&D how much shenanigans can the players get away with. They've tried the former with, to be charitble, mixed results. KODT, Critical Role, Nodwick, and many others show folks prefer the latter.

I feel like this is either going to be a cool film or a big swing miss like the Matthew McConaughey but either way, I'm in. I just like when movies go for it.

I need y'all to watch this trailer, which won't embed for some reason, and go on a journey of finding out what this fucking movie is about, because no way in hell are you going to guess.

(I will consent to giving a heads-up for a common phobia/gore thing: at the very end of the trailer, someone gets stabbed in the eye)

Seems pretty straight forward to me. Just a slight variation on a classic tale.

  • Boy meets girl
  • Another suitor of the girl kills the boy out of jealousy
  • Boy is reincarnated as a fly to get revenge on the other suitor / his killer

From the director of the megahit RRR comes Man Vs. Bee but it's a fly

To me the big reveal is learning this movie came out 10 years ago.

I first learned about it on the Wikipedia page for Man vs Bee so that assessment tracks.

Anyway I have it now so I'll report back after I watch it.

Okay so I've watched it now and it's so much more buckwild than you expect it to be.

Someone mentioned this to me and I figured it was going to be an offensive crude bro comedy, but it looks like it might take a turn into making a point of showing how oblivious and wrong the main character is? Maybe it'll take a turn so the main character isn't pro-war as he appears to be in the beginning?

I don't know what to think, it's a true story which is interesting and certainly not a take on the Vietnam War I've seen before. Weird.

Ah, did not catch that. That was another one where the premise and trailer sounded interesting but then I heard nothing but bad things about the movie. Never mind.

So I just randomly ran across this one, and like, OK, it's Asylum, they suck in predictable ways that aren't even fun to make fun of, no way this is watchable, but the trailer itself, taken as a standalone work of art, is just beautiful. Well except for the last 10 seconds or so when it starts repeating ideas anyway.

UFO Sweden is an upcoming Swedish film about a young woman whose dad disappears mysteriously, after which she starts to hang out with a group of Swedish ufologists, since she suspects that her dad might have been abducted by aliens. It will be released in Sweden in december, but there are plans to release it internationally as well, at least in Europe via Netflix. No word on any american release yet. You can enable english subtitles on the trailer on YouTube:

The big reason I want to share this particular trailer is because one of my friends has a role in the film, as one of the ufologists. He has worked as an extra in some previous movies, but this is the first time he has a named character role in a major Swedish production. Needless to say, I have purely personal reasons to be excited!
