I have condensed the introduction from the old thread, if you need bringing up to speed:
First of all: As always, play Gals Fighters.
Sara ni! Today SNK producer Oda revealed that the latest addition to the series is The Last Blade: Beyond the Destiny:
Beyond the Destiny is a pocket-sized adaptation of both main titles in the Last Blade series, as the SNK wiki describes:
And it will become available...today! As in "right now." My, it's been quite a day.
When SNK ported Samurai Shodown 2019 to the Switch late last year, it was accompanied by an unexpected pre-order bonus: a Switch port of Samurai Shodown! 2 for the Neo Geo Pocket Color, the first-ever official rerelease from SNK's celebrated but short-lived handheld. Then, in April, they dropped a similar surprise: a stand-alone rerelease of the cute 'n' comical SNK Gals Fighters. And just yesterday, they revealed that they're going to keep the NGP titles coming, now under a unified banner similar to your Sega Ages, Arcade Archives, and ACA NEOGEO: "NEOGEO POCKET COLOR SELECTION."
It appears every title will carry forward the features of the existing releases, including the following:
- A+ emulation by Code Mystics
- Rewind
- Screen frames depicting a selection of NGP models, with functioning buttons using the Switch's touch screen
- The ability to freely scale the game screen
- An optional LCD screen filter
- A high-res scan of the game's manual
- The Japanese version of the game (including an equivalent scan of the Japanese manual)
- Local multiplayer with a cute "cocktail" display option for the Switch's handheld mod
The game initially begins as a normal adaption for the first game. When players finish a story with a character, they are awarded a certain amount of points. As players collect points, they can purchase several features such as endings, characters, or mini-games. Through this process, they can change their game into the sequel and experience different endings during each play.
And it will become available...today! As in "right now." My, it's been quite a day.
