I hope Flaco remains OK. I kinda wish he were back in the zoo; I agree with the people later on in the article who say it's only a matter of time before something bad happens to him. And I don't want that for him!
I also feel this way to an extent, which feels bad! I just want him to have a long and satisfying owl life.

A few pictures in honor of Superb Owl Sunday. These are from Philippe De-Bruyne, a Quebecois nature photographer.

The garbage can in our kitchen is right next to a window looking out the back of the house, and earlier today when I was throwing something away I noticed something mostly blue sitting on a cable with its back towards me. I thought it might be a parrot at first, but once it turned around I saw that it was a kestrel! (More accurately, neither I nor my girlfriend knew what it was, but the Merlin app was able to ID even with a super zoomed in picture taken through the window.) As far as I'm aware I've never seen one of these guys before; certainly didn't expect to find one in the middle of Brooklyn. I still feel pretty lucky!

Wish I could've taken a picture that's actually worth sharing, but you'll have to settle for a good picture someone else took instead.

One of my favorite bird facts is that falcons aren't actually related to hawks and other raptors, they're actually an offshoot from parrots. Little murder parrots! So in a sense, you weren't wrong!
