Two bird updates in one day: while coming home from a walk this evening, my girlfriend and I had a peregrine falcon swoop directly* over our heads chasing some pigeons. I've never been that close to one before, it was really cool.

*Several feet in the air above us, but still.

I mean, on the one hand that's adorable, but on the other hand, that's how you get bird poop all over your duvet.

Sekisuke is clearly trying to impart important information of some kind. It’s a pity we don’t speak Birb.

I love how li’l birbs look like they go directly from one position to another without any in-between frames.

Today I learned of the California quail, which has to be one of the borbiest of borbs.

If you haven't seen video of them running (especially with babies) it's pretty great. They're everywhere here and very goofy.

I was looking for a video of them running and instead found this very cute one of a bunch of babies, watch until about a minute in when the babies hide under mom and extra roundness engages.

And here's one with them running at the end, it's a better effect when you're not at their level but oh well you get the idea
