Visit from a kiwi friend would absolutely be the dream
Oh, and I'm sure some of you have already heard about it, but there is a tradition that a large straw goat is put up in the Swedish city of Gävle every Christmas, and invevitably someone will try to burn it down. But this year, due to the straw containing an unusually large amount of seeds, it was eaten by birds instead. Which feels like an important piece of birb history.
I'd normally be disappointed that the goat didn't get burned, but this was somehow even better.

It appears that the Superb Owl have some competition.
I prefer to think of it as company rather than competition. There’s room in the world for all kinds of superb birds!
It's been a whole year since someone set Flaco the owl free. How's he been doing?

I hope Flaco remains OK. I kinda wish he were back in the zoo; I agree with the people later on in the article who say it's only a matter of time before something bad happens to him. And I don't want that for him!
