I hope the show is weekly incidents that confirm the presence of a Jedi on Tatooine, and Vader's efforts to duck out of the responsibility through increasingly absurd workplace excuses.

There’s nothing saying that they meet. I hope the writers are smarter than that.
The press release has Kathleen Kennedy saying that it's "the rematch of the century" which bodes ill

I hope every episode is Obi-wan knitting, with the occasional "is Luke in trouble? No."

All of these look promising, but I'm really not a fan of Vader and Obi-wan meeting up again. It detracts from the gravity of them meeting up in a New Hope if they had regular Thursday duels to the death.

Something I don't like, especially in Empire period, is when Rebels, games, etc has these like not-sith light sabre idiots. Like I get it, sword fights are cool, but don't like ham fisting this stuff where everything else tells us that it's super rare.

Something cool in the
Ahsoka
ep of Mando is she had a cool fight with a non sabre person.

My guess is that they'll swing back and forth to show contrast and similarities between their lives (e.g., isolation), maybe have some "involved in the same event but not meeting" moments like Korben Dallas and Zorg in The Fifth Element, but that they won't directly encounter each other.

I saw someone on Twitter hella excited for Andor, and in the replies someone was like "who is Andor" and they were like "That's Cassian's last name!" and they were like "who is Cassian" and they were like "Diego Luna's character in Rogue One" and they were like "oh...uh, alright man, I'm glad you're excited" and I've never felt so completely in tune with a human being.

Some of this stuff sounds cool, some of it doesn't interest me, I'm happy for the people who are into it. But man...it feels like they're just trying to run Star Wars into the ground, huh? I know they paid a lot for it and want to get their money back, but this feels like...A Lot™. A Rogue Squadron movie sounds cool as Hell, here's hoping they manage to pull it off.

I am going to bet 400 US dollars right now, with the way Disney is showing how they're treating Star Wars, that Darth Maul shows up as a central villain in something by 2025. Let me know if you want to take this bet and lose 400 USD

It obviously isn't new news, but the Obi Wan series always felt like a mistake to me, and them confirming that he fights Vader at some point REALLY feels like a big mistake, for the "last Thursday" reasons pointed out above. It's the age old thing where "superfans" want more of a thing, so now they're overexplaining and demystifying things that worked perfectly as they were. It's a shame, but hey, when there's a buck to make...I guess this is what happens.

Yeah, they already tried to make him the central villain of what was intended to be a series of new Han Solo movies before the initial outing crashed and burned.

He only had like 3 scenes before he was bisected. He came back in Clone Wars, Solo, and Rebels with various robot legs.

If the Lando series is young Danny Glover Lando I would not be surprised to see them continue the Darth Maul stuff there.

Thanks for tagging the spoiler. Honestly, at this point I've made peace with the fact that I can't read Twitter without getting hammered with spoilers almost as soon as an episode comes out, and there is no combination of muted keywords or hashtags that will prevent that. By this point, all the stuff that Mando fans have been crying, yelling, or hollering about is just going to register zero emotional response from me.

Fear of spoilers does more to make me keep up with the show as early as possible than the fact that I really like watching it.

1) I was talking about live action but didn't specify, my bad, so therefore Rebels or whatever doesn't count
2) Solo definitely also doesn't count because it never happened lalala I can't hear you
3) They're still gonna do it. Like there's what? 2 or 3 TV shows coming about Jedis? Dude's gonna be there, and it's gonna be lame

I’m fine with them milking Star Wars into the ground, I just wish 90% of it didn’t feel like it was stuck in the orbit of the movies. There’s so much cool shiz in this universe and if they’re going to make a bajillion shows they should stretch their legs more.

Hopefully the High Republic is its own thing and not, like, “look, it’s Palpy’s grandpa!”

I agree they should leave well enough alone but I'm cautiously optimistic that any Kenobi/Vader confrontation will make sense. The Obi-Wan limited series takes place 10 years after Revenge, roughly 10 years before A New Hope, so I don't think bringing the two together is necessarily a bad idea or somehow lessens the confrontation in A New Hope, but I am curious how you top the fight on Mustafar at the end of Revenge.

What never made sense to me is that Obi-Wan, after *defeating* Darth Vader, decided to just fuck off and live like a hermit for 18 years or whatever instead of continuing to fight the good fight. Maybe after some more setbacks later or finally feeling Too Old For This Shit, he would give up. But not immediately after the Fall of the Republic. I'm all-in on an Obi-Wan show.

Not really. He couldn't defeat the Emperor so it was a moot point whether he could defeat Vader or not. Better to make sure the twins were OK and stay alive to train them.

Edit: he also needs his training from Qui-gon too

Best case scenario: Wracked with guilt, Obi-Wan is stuck deciding between guarding the twins and reaching out for any remnants of the Jedi. The scope of the series starts big but compresses as it goes on, until a near miss that nearly alerts Vader to Luke's presence makes Ben decide to plant himself for good. The final episode is an intimate Scouring of the Shire-style epilogue of him and young Luke chasing off Jawas without using the Force or his lightsaber.

Most likely scenario: Obi-Wan and Vader clashing constantly in an escalating series of duels that ends with Vader holding young Luke over an active volcano until Obi-Wan saves the day by giving them all Force Amnesia.

My dream scenario: A Popeye and Olive Oyl/Buttons and Mindy/Baby's Day Out comedy where Ben has to keep baby Luke from getting hurt crawling through a construction site.

This is my pick.

Or the Roadrunner/Wile. E Coyote thing with Vader

I've always wished for this, but with baby Ben Solo causing trouble with the Force and C-3PO having to save him.

This is extremely how I feel. I saw Rogue One in the theater and immediately forgot about it -- I definitely could not name a single character from that movie. Some of the other shows coming up seem cool but for me, I don't need this one.

Edit: not trying to harsh on anyone who's excited about Andor, just mildly puzzled by it.
