4 - I hate the drought scenario so very much.

We've decided to tear the food from the corpses of our enemies and tread them under -- wait, no. I'm looking at the wrong paper here. Apparently, we're going to... ask nicely.

It's like I don't even know you guys anymore.

I figured we'd at least get our choice of clan to petition, but no, it's just done and over like that. But hey, 80 food for free. Would it be unseemly to throw a feast to celebrate?

Let's end this action-packed update on a tense cliffhanger!

A dispute has arisen among the weaponthanes after the raid on the Osgosi. The disputing factions are roughly divided between the older, veteran warriors and the daring young bravos. The bravos accuse the veterans of taking more than their fair share after past raids, and demand three out of four pieces of loot from this raid, to make things square.

Yerestia: Honey is sweeter than blood. Recommends #3.
Harvar: This dispute has little to do with young and old; it is more about petty personality conflicts. Recommends #3 or #4.
Insterid: This is a trifling matter. If we involve ourselves, we will probably make it worse. Recommends #2.
Iskalli: It's my fault, isn't it? No recommendation.
Valensta: This sort of thing is bound to happen. Recommends #3.
Arene: Back in the Storm Age, King Vingkot placed a shattered clan under our protection. That clan was called the Nalda Bin. Recommends #3.
Heortarl: Eurmal had a scab, and he picked at it until it fell off and transformed into a terrible enemy. Recommends #2.
Mogri: Oh, those wacky weaponthanes! *laugh track*

Ten Dragon Pass points to whoever provides the best explanation for Iskalli's victim complex. Ten more to whoever figures out what Arene's history lesson has to do with this event.

Option 2. When Heortarl and Insterid agree, that's what you go with.

Maybe we absorbed the clan into ourselves and treated them equally, and therefore we should treat our warriors equally too?

I'm guessing it's something like that. Yeah, three works for me.

#5 our veterans have proven their worth against the hated Osgosi. We need to teach these whipper-snappers a lesson.

I'll throw in for the second option. Who knows more about warriors than Insterid?

We can't not unfail if we choose #2!

Year 1337, part 4

Insterid and Heortarl have suggested leaving well enough alone. That's as strong a pedigree as you can get from this clan ring, so we're gonna go for it.



Wow. What a bunch of jerks.

Every time I've gotten this event, this is the option I've picked. The weaponthanes feel badly when they realize the matter has reached the ears of the clan ring, and the situation is resolved without our intervention.

Our weaponthanes are so entitled that they're seeking the clan ring to solve their problems. Let's teach them a lesson.



I can't believe that worked. I'm also surprised our goods don't increase from this event.

Anyway, there's still time for more raids. We've already knocked the Osgosi down a peg, so...



...naturally, the Peluski are even weaker still.

Well, that's their problem. We're going to raid the Heran because it's been a little while. We don't want them getting complacent.



With double-power weaponthanes, we've got an effective 280 to their 140. I feel good enough about those odds that I won't pump any magic into this battle.



It pays off, and we are significantly richer for the raid. We also managed to kill or wound nearly all the troops they fielded (although they didn't manage to field all of their troops, so this probably isn't quite as devastating as it seems).



We are then inundated with news. The only one I really care about is that our pastures are overflowing. We'll have to do something about that.

Earth 1



Now that raiding season is over, it's time to take advantage of our very nice omen for the year. I love Valensta's quote here.



I don't know about you guys, but I want more treasure. Let's send Harvar (mostly because I forgot to switch) and give him the Helm of Karse as collateral. The Helm improves the morale of our weaponthanes, but our weaponthanes have to be pretty happy with our military situation. We don't have to sell or trade it, but taking it along gives us some flexibility.

Yerestia: If I were asked to turn over several of my people to another clan's justice, I would not like it. No recommendation.

Insterid: Let us not forget that the beast folk are our ancient enemies. No recommendation.
Iskalli: I can cite precedents that allow the offending ducks to be turned over to us. Once honored, we can afford to show mercy. Recommends #5.
Valensta: A barn is worth sixteen Bushels of grain. Recommends #1.
Arene: Our fields need our attention -- a couple of steads are not worth losing our crops over. Recommends #1, #2, or #6.
Heortarl: Demand that the offending ducks to be turned over to us (sic). We should then kill them, as an example to others. Recommends #5.
Mogri: But there's more than one duck clan...

They have run afowl of the law. Should we make an eggsample of them?

5. Pet ducks seem like a good thing to have around.

6 Increase the tribute owed by the Ducks because that can't possibly go wrong in any way!

KILL KILL KILL The Offending Ducks!

I like the idea of increasing the tribute they have to give us, especially in a drought year. The other ducks will be so angry with the arsonists that they'll turn on themselves and destroy the clan from within! Perish, enemies of Clan Destine!

#5 Any time a member of the ring suggests they can handle something it seems like there's almost no chance it'll wind up going south.

I'm not sure that showing mercy is the correct path for the ducks who are one of our many hated enemies. If we have a second choice when they get to us we should teach them a lesson.

Oddly I usually tend to ignore what the trickster says, but in this case I'm entirely in agreement with Heotarl which I didn't notice 'til after I posted.

What, are we not getting any input from the ring besides "going after them in harvest season is a bad idea"?

(We're going to have a riot next year, but I think our hands are tied.)

It's the same event, so the advice hasn't changed.

Revenge is a dish best served...cold.

Unlike dinner, which is a dish best served at all. Leave them be for now, we can enact our wrath on them in a season or two. WHEN THEY LEAST EXPECT IT. Besides, we've basically ground our regular punching bag down into a fine paste, there's no reason not to turn our attention elsewhere next time we want to do some killin'.

Yeah, we can't have our weaponthanes starve this winter because we wanted to get revenge NOW.

But when it's raiding season again, you'd better believe it'll be on like Donkey Kong.
