This all is highly amusing, but I don't think I could play through this hack without feeling I'd crossed some sort of line.
Elfir is obviously exempt because she's just LP'ing. |

Elfir crossed that line as soon as she started buying all the little mini-ponies and then started expanding to the larger ones. Of course I'm sitting here in a 20% cooler Rainbowdash T-Shirt so... yea.

Did anyone else read the tags?
I don't think their is anything wrong with ponies (or MLP) I just don't watch too many cartoons anymore. Still watch anime though. |

Applejack and Luna wash up on the shore of the river and are found by an excitable pink pony... They could hardly have picked a more pained looking status portrait. Pinkie Pie is the most cheerful annoying pony in the universe. She's fun sometimes and gets some of the best songs (ranking just behind Rarity) but she's a Looney Toons character in a non-Looney Toons show. There have been two instances in Friendship Is Magic where she's been non-cheerful, a flashback to the "time before happiness" and another when she thought her friends were ditching her. So of course fans are convinced that behind that cheerful manner is angst, angst, and more angst. If you don't smack her, she doesn't run off like Gau would. She just keeps complaining about being hungry. They broke that just so you're forced to get this reaction, I guess. Yet another reference to Luna Eclipsed. Pinkie, dressed as a chicken, leads the children in being terrified by Luna, aka Nightmare Moon. By the end of this romhack, we may have referenced every second of that episode. In Ponyville, the citizens are mostly unchanged, though they now sell cupcakes instead of food or jerky or whatever. Pinkie Pie only accepts bribes in the form of sugar products. Sigh. Another meme that has infected everything. I was really rooting for the young couple to be Big Macintosh and Cheerilee. Instead we get everybrony’s favorite background lesbians. In the show, Lyra and Bonbon are recurring background ponies who often appear together. They met for tea in the background of one episode. So they are now the One True Pairing. In addition Lyra is a special interest to Bronies, who has decided she wants hands. Yes, hands. Hooves aren't good enough for her. Even though she's also got unicorn magic, giving her far more ability to manipulate objects than earth ponies. Lyra actually has a big enough following that Hasbro is getting ready to release a brushable toy of her. Bonbon gets no such love. Luna: Nay child, one is the limit. Pinkie Pie: But there's one right there! Luna: Thou art a greedy one! Pinkie Pie: No, I'm the hungry one! Luna: Thou shalt stand down! Pinkie Pie: How can I stand while I'm down? Luna: Thou art infuriating! [dance around] Luna: (wheeze) (puff) Thy alacrity is admirable... Pinkie Pie: Whee! You're a quicky! [dance around] Pinkie: (giggle)! You're a good dancer! Luna: BE STILL!! Pinkie Pie: Y'all! Y'all! Y'all! Y'all! C'mon everypony, let's dance! Untz untz untz! Untz untz untz! Untz untz untz! O_O Did Pinkie Pie start beatboxing? Luna: She is not in the mood for such useless revelry! Pinkie Pie: ... I'm so sorry, I'm just so excited! Applejack: It's ok sugarcube... Pinkie, y'all sure seem happy to see some friendly faces, why don'cha join us? Pinkie Pie: Oo! You know what this calls for? A party! And I've got the perfect present! Luna: A present? Of what possible sort? Pinkie Pie: Pinkie Pie ALWAYS gives the best gifts!! Shiny, pretty, fancy!!! Luna: Fancy...? Pinkie Pie: C'mon, everypony likes to party, don't they? Luna: We should not be indulging ourselves! Hmph. We wonder what Apple Bloom wouldst think of all this... Pinkie Pie: Who's Apple Bloom? Is she nice? Maybe she likes to party too! Luna: Apple Bloom? Well, she is... Dear Applejack, This would be a good time to mention your little sister by the same name. Perhaps that she left home years ago and you haven't seen her since. What a weird coincidence! |

Luna: Mmf... very well... carry on... Pinkie Pie: This way! Just a few smidgameters to the south!! Luna, we could play pin the tail on the donkey! And Applejack, I bet you pitch a mean game of horseshoes! We can have a party at the old rock farm! It'll be so much fun! Applejack: Look, we're plum out of ideas, and we haf'ta find a way to Neighshe. Let's go with her. [Applejack and Pinkie Pie leave] Luna: Pinkie Pie... Thou art so... random! [Pinkie Pie reenters, backwards] Pinkie Pie: Miss Thou! Hurry up! We're leaving!! Luna: Our name is not "Miss Thou"!!! And there you go, Mr Thou lives again! Er, Screwloose there is some kind of pony mental patient. She barks. This seems like a pretty random character to include. Pinkie Pie's abilities have gotten some changes. She has the option to just attack, which Gau could not do. Rage has been turned into Random, except there's no multi-round commitment. It's more like Lore without the MP cost. I haven't experimented with it too thoroughly as of yet. Bounce is the same as Leap, at least. After bouncing around the Veldt for far too long, we continue. Pinkie Pie: No silly, this is just an old cave! Now where did I put that present... Luna: We shall help thee search! Applejack: Well okay then! The gag locations are pretty much unchanged. Luna: We think we understand! The headpiece holds a pocket of air... Let us go! Still not clear how one air helmet is going to help three ponies not drown. Maybe Pinkie Pie pretends she's a fish and Luna uses magic. Applejack: Okay Pinkie, we're goin' in! Yeehaw!! Luna: Let us go! Y'all, I found Granny Smith! She was crammed in this tiny box all along!! It's another HP restoring item, which heals 100% of HP. Really? We're doing percentage based healing items? I hadn't been paying attention (certainly not using items - what kind of player do you take me for?) Eventually we reach our destination... Hoofington. |

Dancer: Geez, don't blow an artery, baby! Applejack: B... baby?! Luna: Applejack... She knows not to whom she speaks. Applejack: I'm not like that! Luna: We know thou are a mare of great honor and discretion, let not this whimsical lass stray thy mind. Dancer: Stop whispering! My ears are burnin', baby! Applejack: Hold it right there missy! Ah ain'ta looking fer that kinda company, so you best be on yer way! The dancer's design is based on Fleur de Lis, basically a unicorn supermodel who appears in the episode Sweet and Elite. She's a piece of eyecandy than hangs around a stallion by the name of Fancypants. Pony: You can't even talk to him now, seems old age took his mind. Wonder what happened to his kids? A bit of insight into that "rock farm" everypony's talking about. In The Cutie Mark Chronicles, Pinkie Pie says she grew up on a rock farm until she got her cutie mark and became a Paladin of Fun. Her description: "There was no talking. There was no smiling. There were only rocks." A sneak preview of horse puns to come. Applejack: Ah sure hope so, it's a dangerous world we live in now... Hey, 'bout that trainin' of yours... ya seem to pick up on it a mite quicker than I do, mind giving me a few pointers while we're sailing? Luna: Master Greymane's teachings... Yes, we will share them with you Applejack, we trust you have the honor to use them wisely! Pinkie Pie: More friends? I can't wait to meet everypony! I assume this is discussion of training is meant to hoofwave Applejack learning all the rare Blitz techniques Luna's studied so long to learn. Anyway, this wraps up Luna's journey and leaves us with just one more scenario before everypony meets back up. P.S. Yes, I totally forgot to send a bazillion letters for that soldier back in Ponyville. |

And this all from one little mistake! It's hard to imagine the implications of this hack what with everyone walking around on hind legs just because the creator was too lazy to make sprites that moved like horses. |

YES.
I was very close to drawing attention to it earlier this morning, but didn't want to be seen as trying to instigate something. That having been said, the tag "you should be ashamed" is just...very wrong. Quote:
I'm surprised they didn't fix the dialogue to change "kid" to something more...pony. Quote:

Pinkie Pie's dialogue is perfect. And with a Fight command, she's even useful! Any chance you'll be doing the Gau/Pinkie-only dialogue for when we meet Ramuh or whoever they change him to?

Yes because some one is gonna have to explain how they got pregnant.

I was meaning to ask what optional dialog to pursue for that segment. I know the Edgar/Sabin (Celestia/Luna) stuff in Figaro but I can't remember what else there is. I probably won't bother recruiting Fluttershy for that segment, since I don't think she'd have any lines.

The "arrow in the knee" thing comes from Skyrim. A random NPC guard says it out of a list of one-off background lines, and the internet decided to insert it into everything. "I used to _____, until I took an arrow to the knee." Hi-LAR-ious.

What sorts of weapons can Ga...er...Pinkie Pie equip?
Also, guaranteed special usage with Rage is pretty powerful, especially in the WoB. I wonder if enemy rage abilities have changed. |
#169
|
|||
|

Pinkie Pie can only equip claws, at least based on the equipment I have on hand. The enemy rages seem to be the same as the guides I've consulted from what I've seen so far. I don't know if the rages I'm picking or another change, but they seem very consistent. I'm ALWAYS getting Bolt 2 off Hazer, or that wind thingy of Marshall.

Jesus, no shit. Tiger Fangs or Dragon Claw (forget which is stronger) plus a guaranteed Catscratch proc? That's a free 9999 every round, without the drawback of loss of control.

Yeah, I'm used to Gau being a pain in the butt and not using him, so I didn't bother hunting down a stray cat in that area earlier. But if further testing proves true, I'd be tempted to make an extra trip down the river just to pick that up!
Though this hack already has stripped much of the challenge out, so I might not bother until the usual post-Mog trip. |

In the World of Balance, sure. In the World of Ruin, she'll lose out to ponies who can cast Ultima four times per turn.

Debatable. The downside to casting Ultima four times per turn is you have to sit through four Ultima animations. =)

Do the statuses stick around after raging? Bomb for float and Templar for protect and then whatever the heck you want for offense would be pretty sweet. Not to mention the healing rages that normally outlive their usefulness after the first turn.

But when I realised that I didn't need to I was like Ultima may be strong, but the game is far from hard to be honest. (Even without guaranteed cat scratch). Quote:
See if the rages were a larger move set (and perhaps fewer rages available) the loss of control would be no big deal to me, but then they would be enemy-like dances. This is making Gau into a better version of a blue mage (per se) |

It's not the existence of the phenomenon but the speed of its uptake. I don't have a problem with it or with the show's fans, I'm surprised by their productivity.

Hi Parish, you are familiar, at least in passing, with the Japanese concept of "moe" right? Essentially MLP:FiM's meteoric rise in popularity across the internet is a western manifestation of "moe." I hope this has been enlightening.
