The fish spot is there in both the WoB and the WoR, and with the same 2 enemies in both. It's a good way to grind AP fast if you just want to hold down A and a turbo speed button

whaaaat. I've never even seen this spot before. I've spent the better part of the last two decades compelled to make some dumb doofy trek across half the overworld for a dance I almost never use, and I NEVER HAD TO!?

No, it's not in the real game, so unless you've been playing this mod for two decades you didn't miss anything.

Though this is another examples of the modders really caring about FF6 and not just being MLP fans. Having to take that long trek or always having a blank space on your Dance list was something that always drove me crazy.

I vaguely recall the GBA version adding in one more underwater battle in the WoR, possibly to get one of the new espers they added. Can someone with a better memory confirm that?

If you take the ship from one of the towns (can't remember which) you can fight Leviathan. I don't think he's that hard, either, assuming you have Thundaga on more than one character, but I could be misremembering that.

The ship is South Figaro to somewhere. Absorbing or cancelling water will also trivialize the fight.

That's kind of creepy actually. There was potential for creepy in the original but the "grandpa" thing diffused it. Trixie's stalker has her unconscious in bed for a whole year? Inappropriate fanart is probably the least of our concerns.

Trixie briefly shows off her fishing skills but I have no interest in saving that creeper so she quickly gives up. Amassing a collection of dead ones to feed him is too much trouble so instead I explore the island.

Considering ponies are herbivores, it's amazing not-Cid survived as long as he did. I've still got at least a hundred apples in my knapsack so I think Trixie will be fine for a while.

Man, this whole bit kind of loses it's oomph when it's an ancillary character and and a fan-wank ponification.

I wonder if it wouldn't have been too hard for them to hack the whole fish minigame out. Seems like you'd just need to set a flag or two.

You know, I never actually managed to save Cid/Seth until my PF6 run of the game... Feels like a hollow victory, though

At least A: it wasn't a Pegasus, and B: It wasn't a "Leap of faith!"

Anyway, this update more or less confirms my previous belief that Sweetie Belle would have made a much more natural fit for Celes, and Rarity should have been Cid.

(Rarity would have been creating magically infused fashion for the Empire, if you must know.)

Some items have an @ symbol instead of a space when you pick them up. Not sure why but it goes away in menus. I'm sure our new crop of romhack experts would have some clue.



I don't think I've ever actually used a magicite item. It's random and rare, so I want to horde them and wouldn't risk using them in a pinch either!

Luna's return to capslock was not PTSD after all and her volume returned to normal as soon as the crisis ended.


The World of Ruin's mostly-nonlinear episodic nature is going to lead to lots of short updates like this, depending on the length of the sequence. I'm going along "in order" right now but once we get the airship I'll recruit everypony as popularity dictates. Difficulty will knock certain ponies down the list until the roster is a little more filled in. I'm not hunting down Apple Bloom with 2-pony parties.

Recruit the hell out of Fluttershy as soon as is possible.

Honestly, aside from Rainbow Dash (and Spike, who isn't in this hack :<), I don't really care all that much. That said, uh. Get the Mane Six out of the way, at least.

I feel like there's a vague suggested order that nobody ever comments on. I mean, you get the airship, and the bird leads you to Zozo. Cyan comments to Gau going back to the Veldt, and you find Shadow/Relm in the Veldt cave. Then you can do the Jidoor sequence to get Relm, which includes the clue to finding the Phoenix Cave in Ghestal's painting. So stop by Fanatic's Tower to get Strago, then get Locke with your 8-person party. Then take Locke to Narshe, have him unlock the doors as per Lone Wolf's suggestion, and get Mog and Umaro. It's still wide open and you're not really restricted to this sequence, but I feel like the game does drive you towards your next destination for a while, even after you get the airship.

There was also the original map that came with the SNES version that had all the locations in a numbered order that I'm pretty sure follows that path.

Faust first, then Fluttershy, Scootaloo, Twilight, Derpy - after that whichever pony you want to go for ^_^

Mane 6, then I don't care.

Trixie is still a terrible Celes.

I plan to pick up everypony and hopefully do all the other sidequests. I understand the hack adds some more optional bosses but I don't know anything about them. I'll look them up later and decide if they're reasonable enough to attempt.

I'll probably go with Beowulf's suggestion unless there's a big demand for somepony in particular.
