Changes I'd make already: Twilight Sparkle referred to as "teacher" rather than "mama." She fits that role far better. Also, replace one of the random fillies with Spike. Maybe Spike will appear eventually but at this point I'm getting frustrated waiting and he BETTER not be one of the legendary dragons. Because then we’d have to kill him.



Twilight Sparkle: All the adults died trying to save their fillies and colts...

I'm trying to think of when Twilight Sparkle actually had the downtime to study history books, since she's been in the party or Ponyta form the entire game. Either she looted a library shortly after the world ended and she came to Ponyville or Ponyville has a secret underground library we can't access. What do you mean, before the game started? AMNESIA! No, I'm not letting that forgotten plot thread go, even if I’m the only one.



SWEET CELESTIA IT'S IRON WILL!!



Iron Will is a minotaur who runs assertiveness training seminars with backup from his team of goats (who are not magical and don't even actually talk.) In "Putting Your Hoof Down", Fluttershy attended one of those seminars and turned into a pushy bitch. After making Rarity and Pinkie Pie cry, Fluttershy realizes she doesn't like being that way and refuses to pay Iron Will's fee due to a "satisfaction guaranteed" clause.

The best part about Iron Will is the catch phrases he teaches everypony:



It's a shame he doesn't get any lines during the battle. Not even changing his name has no excuse.



Just because you forgot to put on equipment before charging into battle doesn't mean you've lost your edge... it's probably right there on the shelf.

Twilight Sparkle: Besides, the fillies really need me.
"Twilight...!"
Twilight Sparkle: I need more time to figure this out... There's still so much more to teach these fillies, too... I'm sorry... I'm staying! The fillies need me.



It's another few minutes after this, on the way out, that I finally remember Luna has the ability to use magic and should probably equip some magicite, even if she'll rarely use magic in battle.



Blah. Let the avatar of fanwankery have her say. Yes I'm bitter but we've discussed the better alternatives and she's not even the proper color!!

The thing that could have taught me X-Zone and got me out of Cyan's Nightmare at level 20 with some grinding was right there all along?

Too bad X-Zone and Doom don't work at all in this hack... On the bright side, that works for both sides (making the superboss i know of waste a turn at times)

Why would they save your booty and is it really worth sneaking back into prison? I could see wanting to loot the treasury as payback for prison time, but I doubt your collection of shiny rocks is worth the trip. Unless it's Magicite. If it is, gimme.



"La"-Tia? "Gerad" was pretty clever so I would hope for better than "Latia", considering all the extra letters to play with. Let's see what the anagram generator spits out...

Every game is better with tentacles! Yeah I totally X-Zoned one of them. Since the Vanish+Doom/X-Zone trick doesn't work, I'm making the most of the chances I'm given.

Celestia: (ahem!) Anyway... I had to wait until they led me to their secret cave.

Hopping to the next continent already and... that NPC isn't there in the normal game, right? Because I'm pretty sure that's an airship-exclusive thing. Why would we need this anyway? By the time we exceed the party limits, we have the airship dude.



And that recruiting opportunity must be right around the bend, based on all these clues scattered around! Fluttershy's the most specific clue but we don't have the required item anyway. Still, it's proof of three more survivors!



A new weapon for Pinkie Pie. Okay it's party tickets and Pinkie Pie got most of the toys assigned to her, but really shouldn't all the Mane Six get to use this?



Rainbow Dash: Sorry Trixie, it's not my problem anymore.
Trixie: You idiot, are you just going to waste your life here?!
Rainbow Dash: I already wasted my life... I just want to be left alone... All my dreams have failed, my best friend is gone, and worst of all, my wings are broken...



For a brief flakey moment, I read that literally. And wondered if she'd no longer have Jump/Soar. Or be able to equip the Pegasus Feather. Not my proudest moment.

Trixie: Sorry, Trixie must have mistaken you for Rainbow Dash. A pony who would at least TRY to not be a total loser.
Rainbow Dash: I already said I lost, okay! Just leave me alone, I LOVE being alone...

Rainbow Dash gets to take point, though Trixie and Luna do all the work, with Fire spells and Fire weapons. I only have three zombieproof relics so Luna noms brains occasionally.



You have to read it around the groom in a goofy order but the "secret message" this time is "THE BEST PONY IS YOU." Not sure if this message is directed at Firefly, the lead pony, or the player. I could see any of those, especially having Rainbow Dash as the lead right now.



X-Zone For The Loot! Hard to see but that's a monster chest with a powered up Whelk. If you kill one part, both die but you only get the loot from one. But if they simaltaniously die you can get Luna a matched set of holy claws.



I'm, uh, not going to any parties this romhacker holds.

Not too hard, with immunity to L? Pearl (?????8 GP) and a hasted Trixie using Unicorn constantly.



Firefly: This new airship is going to do the most amazing stunts!

I really like Firefly's color combination. With the older gen ponies the chunky designs kind of blind me to whether the cutie mark and color choices are good. By now I'm pretty used to the weird designs of this game so I can appreciate the colors at least.



Firefly: When you're ready Dash, I'll let YOU fly the Falcon. I know you can handle it if you focus!
Rainbow Dash: No way! I'll beat you in a race and win it from you, then you can fly it when I say so! You'd better clear outta my way!
Firefly: Big talk, buster!



Firefly: OR do you prefer losing?!

Now that they don't have dogfighting to watch, the citizens of Mareanda have some actual gossip. Sugarcube's been through here too so let's keep an eye out. In the meantime, let's check on Lola.



Party: ??? But wasn't Ponyville demolished by Discord? Somepony else must have written these...

If you don't visit Terra/Twilight right away this line doesn't work so well. Sure nearly every city was demolished but there are plenty of survivors. One of the children in Ponyville specifies the soldier's fate: dead as a doornail.



Letter: But with proper care and sunshine, everyone they'll feed! Once we get things wrapped up round here I'll come to see you!
Party: ... this hoofwriting... It looks a lot like Applejack's... But where is she mailing them from?

Quoting yet more of Winter Wrap Up! Those verses are Applejack's solo section. The idea she's trying to get the land working again is nice but I'd believe more in her effort if she were found in a more farming-friendly location...



A little birdy told me Applejack is hiding out in Los Pegasus. I imagine the only "tiny seeds" that'd grow around there would be poisonous weeds. Hiryuu weed and the like.



Despite walking past the only Cafe in town to get to this pony, I always think the way to the mountain is in the northwest part of the city and then have to backtrack.



Yet another silly rename for the sake of pony.

Final Fantasy 6 is just really good at mountain backgrounds. So pretty!

Was Applejack about to reassert her straightness again? I'm not sure how else to interpret that aborted line.

As we wrote to each other, Ah realized we both lost our families cuz of this war. Ah kept thinking about how mad I was, shuttin out all the good... But Ah feel a lot better now, Ah'm gonna pony on!

One of those nice snippets of dialog waiting for those who choose to seek out further resolution.

So apparently the Element of Honesty means you can lie in letters as long as you tell the truth later!

I really like how they did that plotline with AJ, actually. The Element bearers aren't always perfect, as has been established in the show.

Also, consider what happened when Discord took over the world in The Return of Harmony. Each of the elements got reversed.

Twilight (magic) has given up on fighting/magic.
Rainbow Dash (loyalty) has given up on friendship.
Applejack (honesty) has been lying for months.

So we'll get to see New Fluttershy again?

Pinkie Pie is an impatient little pony! She joined in the two steps it took to reach the cave! Don't worry, Pinkie, we'll go Rage hunting later.



Angel puppy! It really is true, you aren't allowed to kill off children or adorable animals in disaster movies (any exceptions you just thought of are a deliberate attempt to be contrary so there.)



As ominous as it is classy! Still going to be a while before we know what this thing does, since it belongs to one of the secret characters (who's just become really unsubtle.)

Vagabond: In a forest north of the Veldt dwells a frightful dragon. I suppose no pony could ever defeat it... but, oh, how free we would be if someone could...

The Tigerfang claws have been renamed after the horrifyingly overpowered dinosaur-like monster in Dungeons & Dragons. Which is technically named after some French monster but who are we kidding? D&D all the way.



We find two varieties of Angel and everyone's favorite yellow pony.



And two variety of Behemoth boss fights! The second one was slightly changed in that it is no longer undead. No cheesing through things with a Phoenix Down or curing it to death. Just a long boring fight.



This spot is famous for either implying Shadow is a girl or Relm is a boy, depending on which translation you're playing. Both characters are female in this version, simplifying things greatly.



Really curious how the dreams are reinterpreted! Fluttershy and Rarity are best friends, hanging out a lot in the show, so I think it can work... but other than one slumber party, Sweetie Belle doesn't figure into things much.



Anyway let's see about wrapping up Fluttershy's recruitment. Which is halfway around the world. You'd think she could at least hitch a ride with us!



Daring Do: I recovered it on my latest adventure, but it's so dangerous it needs to be hidden away for another thousand years. Whatever you do, DON'T OPEN IT!

Yep! The Czar Dragon certainly isn't an invention of this hack, they just made it fightable. It was dummied out in FF6, even though its dialog was translated and everything. Oh yeah, dialog.

Czar Dragon: Mwa, ha ha... Ponies and their desires! I'm free at last! I bring you destruction... I bring you terror... I am Czar... Prepare yourselves!

Aw man, making me feel like the bad guy here! Two hits. That's all it takes. Fluttershy going into this thing unarmed makes a lot more sense than Shadow doing the same. She'd probably try to beg for the Angel instead of fighting for it.

Pinkie Pie says her usual Veldt line. If Trixie's line sounds odd, that's because it's lifted from Boast Busters. Somehow it disables the "Change party members?" script so you have to go talk to someone else to get that option.

Screw this guy right here. He's the only reason I'm putting off beating Discord in the hack... I trained everyone to 99, got all the spells sorcerys etc (all but the rages, HATE the veldt) and I STILL can't win against this guy no matter what I try... Closest attempt got him near dead by abusing a certain attack, but hes still able to destroy me between uses of it...
Remember how I said vanish/doom don't work in this hack? This guy cheats, hes still allowed to use em and have em work

Hey, I just realized, we can see Fluttershy's dreams now!

I'd be terrified of Fluttershy's dreams. I picture her as having the same sort of extremely Cloudcuckooland dreams as Osaka...
