On the other hand, maybe I was so relieved about not having to worry anymore about my game being bugged into a permanent and invisible failstate I overlooked some of 5's flaws.

Really? If so, switch to magic user at the start of 3 and don't look back!

What version of 4 did you play? I didn't play it until it was released on the original QFG collection. So I lucked out and never had any problems with bugs in the game and got to experience the amazing voice work.

I certainly had to worry about a bug in a CDROM release, possibly the big anthology box too. Let's just say you'll want to rescue the domovoi or whatever it's called from the haunted monastery immedialty after starting and ensure shortly after that you get the conversation in the inn at night.

If anyone out there wants to take this thread and do a the VGA version with a fighter or a mage (with the intent of taking said character forward as a paladin (or not, you are volunteering...)) Go ahead!
Otherwise I'm probably not getting back to this until after I've gone through 2 (and maybe 3 and 4. It depends on how not looking forward to 3 I am after doing 2) Just let me, and all the other readers know! If you want to do it but don't have the game(s) PM me. I think we can work something out. |

I'm not 100% committing, but so long as no one expects it to be done immediately, I can potentially play through as a Fighter, since I was going to play QfG2 soon anyways. It probably won't be as in depth as Falselogic's, so if people want that, then I'll hand over the reins to someone else.

I wasn't sure if people wanted to see the alternate solutions to some of the puzzles (granted, a fighter's solutions aren't really interesting), but yeah, I can definitely do a "highlight the differences" bit, and show off all the monsters. We'll see what I can get done in the next couple of days.

Since the front and back of the box can already be seen at Moby Games, here's some shots of the contents. I like the Sierra propaganda pamphlet/catalog 'cause of the big illustrations. I wonder if that Prodigy offer still works? EDIT: The logo on the "Correspondence Course" manual is pretty neat too.

Thanks Sapper! FYI, Sierra Games don't come with their hint books. You had to order them from the company direct, it was one indication that Sierra had that their games were being so heavily pirated. They always sold more hintbooks than they did games.
