I finally got to play this, thanks to my best friend lending me his Switch! Having done 100% of the game*, I'd say I liked it very much, though I didn't love it.

It's obviously super creative and charming at every turn, and visually it's a delight, but the level design itself didn't feel that interesting most of the time. Outside of seeing what new wacky things a wonder flower was going to do, most of the levels are very linear and not particularly challenging. Having said that, the devs clearly loved making it and there's real joy to be found.

I do love Elephant Mario, though. Best new power-up in years.

*I'm not gonna spend time grinding flower coins to buy all the Standees, sorry.

Damn it Snake this isn't the kaizo thread!

(the badges that changed your physics were the least fun parts of the game though)

It's a great game, but Daisy being in is a baffling choice. Why not Pauline??

Because Daisy is in all the multiplayer things and people like her? I mean I agree they could add Pauline too but removing Daisy would be weird since she's part of the core group.

That's it! You all asked for too much! Now it is all just randomly colored Yoshis, all the time! Hope you're all happy!

My kids greatly prefer 3D platform games to 2D ones, I think due to the extra freedom they give the player. They see the 2D games as too finite, too unforgiving, just generally too hard.
Personally, 3D overwhelms my 100% completionist tendencies and I waste vast amounts of time checking every corner and seam (case in point: my GOTY Zelda TOTK where I haven't gotten around to doing a single palace yet). With my limited playtime as an adulting person, it takes months and months to finish a 3D game. A great 2D game like Wonder or Metroid Dread allows me to finish a game before I get burned out.

I can relate to this.

Peach, Daisy, Rosalina, and Pauline should all be playable in a platformer together.
I am 100% down for this.

But is this under the intention that they would all play identically, or differently? If the latter, how would you differentiate them?

In Super Mario 3D World, Peach had her float, while Rosalina had her spin that also acted as a double-jump, IIRC. So that leaves Daisy with...?

Huh, okay.

Stuff seems a little overpowered next to a float jump and a spin, unless they got something else as well, but okay.
