I think I already told you, but that's an amazing feat. Congrats! It helps that the battle system is really, really fun, and that the game gives you the tools to become a super-skilled master.Yesterday I beat Hollow Knight with 112% completion, and did the Path of Pain, getting the Radiance ending on a Steel Soul file with no save and quit scumming to save myself. Took 3 attempts, about 25 hours total in-game time. Final file time was 10h 10m. Really.... really proud of that.
You did all that in Steel Soul and it only took you 10 hours?? Well, you can't lose much time to having to fight the same boss over and over on a Steel Soul run! Other than that I used a couple guides to determine a "comfortable" route that scaled my power enough for the challenges ahead without being needlessly wasteful in backtracking. But thanks all, I'm still really happy about this. You did all that in Steel Soul and it only took you 10 hours?? I am seriously impressed.
I will probably run some Celeste mods for a while but when I burn out there, kaizo's looking more and more enticing. And you tried telling me and Mike that you didn't think you were good enough for kaizo. Congrats on your very impressive achievement!
Heck, I used to think I'd never finish a kaizo hack either, but there are plenty of approachable kaizos out there. GPW2 isn't one of them, mind you. As for your Hollow Knight question, the Radiance is a pretty tough fight, but getting 112% requires beating two bosses that are a good deal more difficult. Nightmare King Grimm was the hardest for me by a good margin, and the Pure Vessel is no walk in the park either. But the toughest part about Pure Vessel is that you have to beat it at the end of the fourth pantheon in order to get 112%. You can practice the fight on its own, and in the past I've beaten it that way, but it doesn't count unless you do it as part of the boss rush.I will likely never, ever finish a kaizo game. Kudos on that for sure.
How much harder is it to get 112% versus just beating The Radiance? That was already really tough.
That's actually just a short clip from the fight, there are a number of clear videos in the Highlights section of my Twitch channel, if you're interested in seeing what the levels themselves look like. And if you've managed to beat NKG, you could probably handle the Pure Vessel. Not everyone agrees with me, but I found PV to be a lot easier than NKG.A long time ago, I beat The Radiance, and according to my achievements, also Knightmare King Grim. But I don't think I ever defeated the Pure Vessel. That fight is hard, even compared to stuff like The Radiance.
Congrats, MCBanjoMike! I'll take a look at the kaizo run later on, but knowing what stuff you play through, and hearing that this was still a Big Thing, that has to be quite a challenge.
That's OK, it's pretty small change compared to your HK accomplishments! If I was to ever go for a steel soul 112% run, would I be allowed to die in Godhome and during the NKG fights? Those are definitely the most dangerous parts of the run for me, although the 3rd colosseum fight and the Radiance are also a little scary.Standing Ovation on the 112%. Now I'm sorry I went to bed at a reasonable hour last night and missed it.
I think NKG makes you take your game to an entirely new level, and once you have, PV is a smaller step up from that point. I think of them as pretty much equals with different patterns but once you've learned one, you have the skill set to learn the other in shorter order. That's actually just a short clip from the fight, there are a number of clear videos in the Highlights section of my Twitch channel, if you're interested in seeing what the levels themselves look like. Dream boss fights, including NKG are safe. Godhome is safe. Radiance is not, White Palace (including Path of Pain) are not. Colosseum is obviously not. That's OK, it's pretty small change compared to your HK accomplishments! You're probably right about that, but since NKG is easier to get to than PV, I imagine most people cut their teeth on the former.I think NKG makes you take your game to an entirely new level, and once you have, PV is a smaller step up from that point. If that's the case, then maybe someday I'll actually pull it off! Not sure if my heart could take losing a run 10 hours in, though. Then again, I do like to play XCOM on Ironman...Dream boss fights, including NKG are safe. Godhome is safe. Radiance is not, White Palace (including Path of Pain) are not. Colosseum is obviously not.
