Goku would absolutely beat Godzilla, even if entailed doing some never-before-seen kaiju-scale transformation or whatever.

Korra would beat TotK Link, I think. She could use wind to blow away any projectiles, and fire to burn up (or overheat) any contraptions he might build. The biggest danger to her would be if she flung some rocks at Link and he used Recall on them, but I think she would have the reflexes to manage after the initial surprise.

I don't have a good read on Sif's general temperament, especially towards other canines or cute, innocent creatures, but assuming she's unfazed she will absolutely go for the kill. Thus, I have to give it to Sif.

As for Kirby vs. Valkyrie, this one gave me some trouble, but I think I figured it out: If Valkyrie were a boss in a Kirby game and I was playing as Kirby, I would absolutely be stonewalled by his ridiculous firepower relative to Kirby's mobility, even if Kirby were to be in a robobot or whatever. On the flip side, if Kirby were an boss in some Macross game, I feel that the worst case scenario for the Valkyrie would be a fair fight. Going with the super robot in this case.

I feel like Punchman vs Dinosaur would be a very even matchup with multiple power-ups until Goku finally realizes that Godzilla is not evil, at which point he would tap out and let Godzilla walk off into the sea or whatever.

Korra is a badass, but Link has the element of surprise and random contraptions in his favor.

I can't figure out a way Missile would beat Sif. I think Missile would immediately run off in the face of a superior foe who can't be tricked or charmed over.

Kirby swallows the robot.

I'm backing Godzilla, Kirby and Korra, per earlier arguements.
As far as as Missle Vs Sif....
Missile charms Sif and wins.

Okay, having had a little time...

Korra and Link are a pretty close match in their day-to-day abilities and I think it'd be a great fight. But I don't think Link has an answer to the power level Korra can get to if it comes down to the wire and she goes Avatar state. Yeah, he takes down huge and powerful bosses on the regular, but those are mostly single-minded beasts with discernible patterns, not a crafty and aware opponent who also happens to be extremely powerful and versatile. And Korra's abilities give her enough options to handle even TotK Link's wide tool-set. Korra takes it by a hair.

Kirby vs Max is also an interesting match-up. But while Kirby is a small target, and can probably come up with some long-range attacks by inhaling the right things, he's never going to match the firepower of the Valkyrie. So his one hope is to swallow it whole, but from what I've seen Kirby's suction, while potentially immensely powerful, generally has a limited range. I could see him maybe catching Max off guard once when Valk strays too close and starting to suck it in, forcing Max to maybe expend a ton of fuel on a turbo boost or eject some reactive armor to break free, but once he's aware of the danger it won't happen again. After that the huge speed and maneuverability advantage on top of its firepower means the Valk wears down Kirby's HP 'til he bows out to go find some food and Max takes it.

Goku, as usual, is a problem. If he's at pre-Z or early-Z power levels, it'd be a pretty even and entertaining match, with perhaps Zilla taking the edge by ring-out as others have posited. If he's at world- or universe-shattering levels, though, all bets are off. I just dunno what to do with Goku.

I also don't really know what to do with Missile, and I don't know enough Dark Souls lore to begin to guess whether Sif could be susceptible to charm alone. Gonna go with them becoming buds and calling it a draw on account of that would be adorable.

battle of characters with a K in their name who are from a piece of media that has "of" and "the" in the title:
If Link charged or dashed in at the start of the fight and hit Korra with a spin attack (especially if using a two handed sword) then maybe he could take her out immediately. But that doesn't really seem like Link's style.

I don't think Korra can bend Link's Sword Beams but if he takes even a single scratch then he can no longer use those.

Link can bring a lot to bear against an opponent but I assume he needs a little bit of time to switch from one tool/wearpon to another. Korra doesn't have that limitation and can switch elements immediately. Another issue is that Link has to worry about running out of ammo if he's using ranged attacks but Korra draws from the same stamina pool no matter what range she's fighting at. Bombs could be difficult for Korra to deal with at first but they are also limited by ammunition restrictions and I think she'll be able to figure out a way to block, counter or avoid them. This is another case where Link might be able to take her out if he goes all mad bomber on her but that also isn't his style.

Using sword and shield could maybe help Link but Korra could probably counter that by backing off and using longer ranged attacks.

Korra has a lot of advantages but she's still going to have to fight hard to win - Link won't go down easily. But the odds are somewhate more in her favor so Korra wins a very close contest.

Max blows Kirby away.
Sif out-dogs Missile.
Godzilla nukes Goku.
Korra is the Avatar, and Link can't deal with it.

I gotta say, I had fifty bucks riding on Goku to take this whole thing.

Valkyries aren't actually that huge as giant robots go; it transforms into more or less a large (extremely heavily armed in this case) fighter jet, so that gives you an idea of total mass. They also have very good maneuverability in both form, especially in Max's hands. Unlike some other giant robots they rarely resort to melee-range combat unless they're up against something their own size.

I guess I'll just segue right into my own analysis. Godzilla *does* have a big size advantage, as well as some extremely powerful long-range attacks with his atomic breath and maybe even some laser-y things depending on which incarnation of the big G we're talking about. Max, though, is a galaxy-class expert at dodging incoming firepower, and in fact is no stranger to fighting basically kaiju - Macross 7 saw him and the Fire Bomber team taking on extra-dimensional aliens that could manifest as giant monsters with their own massive firepower and some weird soul-draining abilities besides. Not saying 'zilla wouldn't provide a challenge - a direct hit from the atomic breath definitely *could* take Max out if for some reason he didn't dodge it, and he can also absorb a ton of damage, so Max might have to resort to something like burying him in a landslide or setting off a nearby volcano or something, but Valkyries can equip everything up to nuke-level armaments, so he'll have options. In the end, G is the king of the monsters, but Max can beat a monster.

On the other match I don't have as detailed an analysis but long story short, Korra has plenty of options for disabling a giant angry wolf with a sword.

Big Wolf versus Bending Woman:
If Sif could get a big hit or two in then I think she could take out Korra but that's a big if*. Korra has the dodges, defense and long range attacks to make Sif play dead. Korra wins.

*Maybe not as big as Sif but still sizeable.

King of Monsters against Ace of Macross
or
Hard to Kill versus Hard to Hit:
Kirin mentioned that Valkyries can equip some very powerful weaponry but I'm assuming that contestants here don't have any knowledge of their opponents so I feel like Max will be using a more general loadout and might not have anything at Kaiju-destroying power levels.

Now if Godzilla had his magnet power from him vs. Mecha-him or his nuclear pulse ability / Burning form from King of the Monsters then I think Max wouldn't be able to escape those attacks. But those both require being setup before hand so I don't think Godzilla will be able to use them here if Max also doesn't have every possible weapon at his disposal.

So like others have said this battle does seem like it will be a lot of Godzilla not being able to hit Max in the Valkyrie but Max won't be able to do much damage to Godzilla. Maybe Godzilla could pull out some never before seen ability like firing his Atomic Breath through his clenched teeth to create a shotgun effect but that seems like something which Max could completely dodge or just take a glancing hit from. And like others have said Max might have to trigger an environmental hazard or something in order to actually be able to put Godzilla on the mat even if that's not enough to take Godzilla out completely. But maybe Godzilla could do something like that in return like by using his breath to vaporize a lake and using the steam as cover for his next attack.

There are just so many what-ifs in this battle that it feels like another coin toss. But I don't want to do that this late in the tournament. Maybe it's time to apply some out of the box thinking here. So what if a couple of Vajra showed up in the middle of Max and Godzilla's match? Max might get worried since he's now fighting even more opponents but he refuses to quit and starts attacking them. At some point the Vajra flank Max and are about to launch a coordinated attack that even he can't dodge but at the last moment Godzilla blasts one of them and gives Max the opening he needs to dodge. This causes the Vajra to start attacking Godzilla and they are doing fairly well since they can double-team him and so they get him on the ground. But just as they are about to try to finish Godzilla off Max flies in with the save. At this point Max and Godzilla team up to fight and destroy the Vajra. Godzilla has had enough fighting for now and wanders off into the ocean but not before he gives Max a nod of respect. That combined with Godzilla leaving the arena is enough for the refs to declare Max the winner.

I'm gonna need a size chart before I make any judgment calls here.

@RT-55J If you were asking about Sif, you can see a Dark Soul in the corner of the image; an adult man is a bit shorter than Sif.

Google suggests Godzilla is about 110 m, and the God Gundam is 16.6 m.

But the God Gundam isn't in this match - it's the Durandal Valkyrie.

This Wikipedia article has some stats for the basic version of the Valkyrie. I'm guessing that they're the same for Max's version.

And this article from an alt.nerd.obsessive wiki shows the different heights for different versions of Godzilla. They vary but are mostly between 50 and 100 meters (160-320 feet).

thanks for the deets y'all.

gonna say that Korra will beat Sif, for reasons already discussed

as for the other matchup, I'm gonna handily give it to Godzilla. Max is small enough to be bossed around by Godzilla, but not small enough to be a relative housefly that can dodge everything. Also, with regards to firepower, Max would be vaporized pretty easily by Godzilla's atomic breath or whatever, whereas Godzilla could shrug off most of Max's explosives (and heaven help him if he accidentally uses anything nuclear). Max's best hope is a draw or stalemate, which imho for the purposes of this thunderdome is as good as a loss.
