I'd like The Game Awards more if they didn't bother with the facade, and just made it Winter Games Fest or something.

I have an old game with a multiplayer component than can only be played via LAN, but I want to play it with a friend in another location. Therefore, I want to ask: Is there any relatively easy and reliable way to "emulate" a LAN over the internet, for gaming purposes? I'm not opposed to get into some complicated technical shenanigans myself, but I don't think my friend who I want to play the game with would be interested in that.

Kazin

did i do all of that?

@Felicia I may or may not be able to help - what game and system are you trying to play? It can vary based on the system.

I've used Hamachi to play stuff like System Shock 2 multiplayer, but I sure as hell wouldn't call it easy OR reliable. There might be better options out there now? Been a few years since I messed with it.

I have no idea how to accomplish that with TCP/IP. Give Hamachi a try like MCBanjoMike suggested, as that's all I'm aware of as well, sorry.

Hi, guy who played System Shock 2 with Mike over Hamachi here. Felicia, if your friend isn't into technical shenanigans, I'm not sure I'd go this route. I recall it being a fucking nightmare, but I might be conflating SS2 with playing the original Risk of Rain online, which for a 2013 game had some fucking bizarre requirements for playing online.

For some reason I don't really remember my wife booted up Terraria on Switch recently and dragged me into a 2-player game. Damn, that shit is addictive. And there is a lot of stuff in the dang game these days. I somehow triggered an entire army of goblins to come at me while I was trying to do quests for the fishing kid, but fortunately I'd recently acquired a gun and super-powered yo-yo and managed to mow them all down without too much trouble. The gun of course came from finally figuring out how to mine the hearts in the corrupted caves, which summoned Cthulhu's Brain... the darkness and fireworks that accompany it make that fight a bit annoyingly chaotic. Meanwhile my wife's gotten addicted to speed-mining via dynamite and keeps getting herself killed in lava. Bit worried she's gonna destabilize half the underground ecosystem before I get to see it, lol.

Arlo (the blue muppet guy) just put out video wherein he suggested that Nintendo have Wayforward work on a new Wario Land game and now I want that to happen soooo bad.

I'm still sad the mutant mudds guys never got to do VB Wario Land for 3DS. I'd still rather have wayforward do a rocket knight adventures revival. C'mon, the collection is coming out in a few months! This is the time to do it!!

I recently replayed VB Wario Land (seriously, the best game for that system), and yeah, the fact that never got remade for the 3DS was a crime.

Yeah, VB Wario is a GOAT. I had a pile of games for that system, but it and Mario Tennis were the only ones I enjoyed enough to play more than once.

Do you like Dioramas?

I'm not sure if this even is a diorama? The article calls it one. I only know the word from that Simpson episode. Anyway, the thing looks really cool.

It’s not a diorama unless it’s in a shoebox. What you’ve got there is sparkling tableau.

Ya'll aren't asking the important questions. Is it edible? Dare I finally live the dream and eat a Banon?
