Hey man! Sorry to hear about your stroke, that's awful and terrifying. Glad you've found a bit of a workaround at least.

Yikes, glad you're recovering now, and prayers that continues with much swiftness!

Is there a name for games or the approach where you start out with a vehicle or other core mechanic that is intended to be difficult to control due to it being bottom tier/cheap, then over the course of the game you upgrade things to make it easier to control? I find it a very weird mechanic but don't have a way to name it without a long explanation like that.

There's something distinct to me between starting with something that's garbage and you're working to make it normal versus a racing game where you have a perfectly normal car then upgrade it to be a precision machine as the game goes on.

I tend to think of any game with intentionally bad controls as being a Foddy-like, after Bennett Foddy, the creator of QWOP and Getting Over It. Not quite sure what to call a game that allows you to tech your way out of the bad controls, though.

(More recently, people have been calling things like Getting Over It “rage games”, since one of their main purposes is to cause streamers to get mad on camera.)

Hmm, not quite what I was going for since as you noted that's more about player skill rather than plot development.

Pacific Drive is kinda what I'm thinking, the car is missing parts and all glitchy and hard to steer at the start then you keep upgrading to make it better. I'm sure there are better examples but can't recall right now.

Not sure where to put this so it goes here. Looks neat, and if that's in-game music, I'll have to check this out. (I love me a good OST.)

I really have to check that out! Does it relate to Citizen Sleeper 2, or is it just its own thing?
