It’ll show up on cartoon network if anywhere, but demographics don’t seem right for that.

Not just the demographics, but the budget doesn't fit either. CN originals don't really tend to be all that expensive to make compared to what some cartoons could demand budgetarily. And definitely the Adult Swim block doesn't have the kind of money to throw around to make this happen. And that's before Zaslav budget cuts.

Batman: Caped Crusader has been acquired by the Cartoon Network and will now be a surreal live action anti-comedy starring a guy from weird twitter with a low 5 digit follower account and a struggling alt-comic taking improv classes at UCB. The budget will be $4.73/episode and it will only be broadcast live on comedy-central.com at 3:13am.

I‘m sad that another HBO Max cartoon is being killed/put in limbo, but I didn’t have much faith in this. All the animated DC stuff has done nothing for me post Justice League Unlimited, aside Brave and the Bold, which I liked quite lot.

Besides, you can’t try to recapture Batman: The Animated Series. Was WB gonna get a live orchestra to compose music for every episode? Was TMS going to work on the Clayface episodes? Were Roddy Mcdowell, David Warner and a bunch of other fantastic, out of left field actors going to come back to this mortal coil to reprise their roles? Than don’t even try.

Also, J.J. Abrams.

I'm honestly just sort of counting on the board going OUR STOCK JUST DROPPED *HOW* MUCH?! Resulting in knives out for Zaslav.

You don't create a market cap loss of 20 BILLION WITH A B dollars and then walk into the shareholders meeting with your head held high, confident that everything is fine and nobody wants to feed you to the wolves.

Oh I wouldn’t be surprised if he gets canned but everything that got pulled/cancelled is going to stay that way if he does. They get to not pay those residuals and blame it all on one guy. #winning

They were expecting to lose market cap since they took on so much debt when they bought WB and Zazlav was supposed to come in and cut costs, and that never looks pretty. Probably not this much, though.

I just don't know why creative talent would willingly work with WBD in the future if this is how they treat their people. The damage goes way beyond just number crunching, they're turning their company into a pariah overnight.

I mean, I certainly canceled my subscription. That's a number they'll pay attention to.

Admittedly I haven't paid the most attention to this since I'm not much of a DC fan, but the linked article says that none of the VFX work had been done on Batgirl yet. I don't know exactly how much of the budget of a modern super hero movie is VFX but my gut is that's most of the cost of a film.

Dumping a film with principal photog done but not VFX seems like a reasonable financial move if it was turning out to be a stinker.

Considering David Zaslav is putting all his money on the Ezra Miller Flash movie, I'm not trusting the judgment of this "Male Skewed" creep. People put in year of blood sweat and tears for a movie to be deleted. That's awful.

Yeah, that's fair. I'm certainly not defending the overall business direction, "justifications" coming from the brass, or the executives themselves.

Like I said, I'm only tangentially aware of the issue, but my takeaway from the scuttlebutt I've heard was essentially "the movie is done but they won't release it" and if the VFX aren't in place that's just nowhere near the case. Probably less true than more true when you consider the overall amount of work done on a comic book movie.

If it was like Ms. Marvel, whivh they did, then it would be fine in the non-superhero or lighter superhero stuff and less interesting in the main conflict.

Well, while we don't be getting Batgirl, or the promised Bruce Timm Batman cartoon, or Young Justice S5, or a bevy of other projects, it's good to know that we're still getting...

BATWHEELS
This looks bad in general but in particular, I do not like that Joker design. That said, Ethan Hawke is not a bad choice for a Batman voice. It's just weird he's voicing what is clearly a Deidrich Baker Batman.

A kids cartoon where the Batmobile comes to life sounds so delightful in a vacuum
It's honestly probably a decent kids show. But it's also very obviously for very small tikes to the degree where adults won't get much if anything out of it. Like a Batman-flavored Paw Patrol.

I hate that the Cars windshield eyes look has become the standard when everyone knows that the headlights are the eyes.

idk if this is part of the joke or not but Ezra Miller uses they/them.

Sorry, I did not know or remember that. I find it surprising that Mr. Zaslav isn't bothered by that since WBD is supposedly trying to appeal to "middle America".

There's lot of sunken money in the Flash movie and Ezra Miller can still pass as a cis white het male. Expect their gender to be massively downplayed in their apology tour.
