I don't know anything about them, but apparently they did a split with KEN Mode, and KEN Mode kicks ass, so I guess I should check it out.

I gave this a spin on your recommendation and quite like it! Though I might be too used to doom/drone metal, because I don't find it particularly crushing… more like post-hardcore with some chunky riffs. But that was honestly a welcome surprise, because not only do I like post-hardcore, but it reminds me a bit of Helms Alee— another band that counts sludge in their mélange, and who has a sound I quite like. Good stuff!

Also, great band name.

"Crushing" may not have been the ideal word, but I'm glad you dug it!

Putting aside the Epic acquisition, Bandcamp Friday is happening again this week! I missed the last one. What are we listening to this month?

Bought these a couple months ago, but they're good:

Quitter by Weakened Friends
Valentine by Snail Mail

Tomorrow is once again Bandcamp Friday, possibly the last one ever. It's the last one that's been publicly announced, at any rate. Support some artists if you can, recommend something if you'd like!

What's Shenmue?
At the very least, I'll be picking up the latest albums from Helms Alee (melodic sludge metal) and Hatchie (dream pop), two albums I've been sitting on only so that I could get them during one of these no-cut days.

Oh, actually there has been news of Bandcamp Fridays returning, and the news is good! They're coming back September through December of this year: 9/2, 10/7, 11/4, and 12/2. I kept forgetting to post about this, thanks for the reminder.

Friendly reminder that Bandcamp Friday starts again this week and continues through the end of the year. I know I'm gonna be picking up the new Mountain Goats album. What's everyone else listening to?

This Friday! Is Bandcamp Friday!

I think I'm gonna pick up Oren Ambarchi's new album "Shebang".

I'm starting to wonder if people are waiting for Bandcamp Fridays to release their albums? Seems unlikely...

Good Music to Ensure Safe Abortion Access to All is a bundle of previously unreleased recordings available today only, which I'm sure was timed to coincide with Bandcamp Friday. Lots of artists I recognize (Soccer Mommy and David Byrne stand out as ones I've been listening to lately and always, respectively), lots I don't, and the money goes to a good cause.

I'm also picking up Silo by The Altogether.

Ooh thanks. Looks like the new Death Cab for Cutie album is on there so I'll probably pick that up.
Oh yeah, that album was surprisingly good. Doesn't hurt that they made it with one of my favorite producers/engineers John Congleton either.

What's Shenmue?
I grabbed the new album from Greg Anderson (drone metal guitarist of Sunn O))) fame, releasing his solo work as The Lord), Devotional. I wasn't too impressed with his last one, but the addition of (wordless) vocals from Petra Haden really elevates the material… the juxtaposition and interplay between the chugging riffs and the high-flying vocals really works! It calls to mind, at least conceptually, some of the stuff Sunn was doing back on Monoliths.

I also took the opportunity to finally give Unwound a go, starting with Fake Train. It turns out this highly acclaimed band is actually very good, who would have thought.
