Shiny pokemon are very rare, and the purpose of their existence is so you can show off how cool you are for having something rare.

Finally, after far longer longer than I would have expected, I can enter the big crater and, presumably, battle Metroid Prime or some other bizarre entity. I am genuinely excited to see the endgame after hearing how wild it gets.

That was an odd way to end a Pokémon game. This series seems to have gotten much more of a narrative since the Game Boy days, huh?

The postgame doesn’t seem very interesting, but I would like to know if you can capture some of the unique Pokémon encountered in the battle with the AI Professor?

yeah, those pokemon can be found around Area Zero, though the spawn rates for some of them are oddly low (if I remember my wife's pokedex filling time correctly)

Cool. I only saw half of the unique Pokémon during the trip, so I guess I was a bit unlucky.

I do have one more general question. What do the ominous stakes you see around Paldea do? I was too nervous to pull them.

There are more legendaries in this game beyond the box legendaries. I'll just say that.

One of your teachers, Ms. Raifort, can tell you more about the stakes.

Some of the paradox pokemon (that's officially what they're called) can only spawn after you've finished the initial expedition into Area Zero. I wouldn't say any of them are rare, but each of them only spawns in certain locations. In particular, you'll want to make sure to check out rocky slopes and the cave with markings on the ground.

did i do all of that?

Apparently Pokemon Home is getting updated on May 24th to begin working with Scarlet/Violet.

I also started playing this a few days ago. It's really fun! I've barely scratched the surface, because I've been spending all my time going around catching every Pokemon in sight. I've not had this much fun just catching the guys since the 90s when the whole idea was new.

They have to fix a glitch wherein once a Quaxly is uploaded to Pokemon Home, all the other pokemon get jealous of quaxly's intimidating bestness.

Rolled the credits on Scarlet last night. Great game. That last sequence reminded me of the wild bits of Sun/Moon. Good stuff.

Shame Pokemon Home isn't going to get support probably anytime soon. I'd like to work on the Pokedex, and that's much easier with access to online trading via GTS. Oh well, I've only got like 170 Pokemon in the dex at the moment anyway, plenty more to catch/raise.
