Got a bit behind on writing on this, so let's get quacking!
10. Terror of the Terra-firmians!
Launchpad and Mrs. Beakley, the kids, and Lena come out of a horror movie. Launchpad in particular was scared but most of the others were not. Webby has her horror story for the group: The Terra-firmians. Lena decides they should investigate the nearby subway. Dewey and Launchpad get a lot of time together, while Huey and Webby argue over the existence of the unknown. Huey's way of dealing with the unknown is amusing: by making notes about it, it's no longer the unknown! Beakley and Lena go off on their own and Beakley tells Lena she doesn't want her around Webby anymore. Of course, there's still more to Lena than the others know about, and her shadow urges Lena to leave Beakley behind when she gets trapped. Despite the urging, Lena helps Beakley. The creatures causing all the earthquakes turned out to be the Terra-firmians, It's neat to see them return from the old cartoon (and I'll be honest, I remember them more as the boss of the African Mines in the NES game) but they had a lot more of a hidden, and monstrous vibe, up until the ending. As for Lena, her shadow of Magica De Spell wants to know why Lena saved Beakley, but when Beakley apologizes, Lena says she's playing the long game. So another mystery here, what will happen with Lena, and what side will she be on? I love it.
11. The Missing Links of Moorshire!
Scrooge and Glomgold are playing golf in the birthplace of golf! Huey and Launchpad are commentating so Huey can get a merit badge (In this series, Huey tends to be the only one to focus on them, instead of the whole trio. Scrooge decides to teach Dewey how to play, and Glomgold bribes Louie to be his caddy (though Louie seems to be getting the better of Glomgold instead). But Scrooge's ball ends up in a stone circle like Stonehenge and they end up in a realm surrounded by mist. A mystical druid golf game! Two horses (complete with My Little Pony voice actors) show up and offer to help, but Webby says they are kelpies and to avoid them, starting the running gag of them trying and failing to drown the ducks. They have to keep playing game and Dewey's eagerness clashes with Scrooge's patience, including taking a shot he shouldn't have. But in the end as the mists close in, Scrooge sacrifices himself to let Dewey make the final shot they need to win. Louie's antics with Glomgold, and the kelpies Briar and Bramble are my favorite parts of this episode.
12. The Spear of Selene!
The moment I saw the title of this episode I was hype. The mystery of what happened to Della that was hinted back in the pilot has been something I've been most looking forward to. The Duck's plane crashes near Greece and it's revealed they've landed on Ithaquack (which I remember from an episode of the old cartoon). Scrooge and Donald in particular are worried and want to leave, but then they're confronted by Storkules, who is happy to see them (particularly Donald). Then Zeus shows up, angry because Scrooge is there. Turns out that Scrooge, Donald, and Della used to come here for vacations, but Scrooge always beat Zeus at challenges. Dewey and Webby sneak off to the Temple of Heroes in search of a Selene, based on the Spear of Selene mentioned in the letter they found in Scrooge's library. Dewey thinks his mother is a hero, but Webby is worried that she betrayed Scrooge. Even fighting over it as they explore.
Zeus forces the Ducks to compete against Storkules, but the nephews tend to outsmart Storkules's strength. Zeus keeps extending the number of rounds, until the final round is stealing the Golden Fleece from a young girl. Storkules doesn't want to steal from a child, but the child is a siren who takes control of Storkules so that Zeus can use him to attack the boys. Dewey and Webby fight because Dewey doesn't want to find out his mother is a bad person. But they decide to enter the temple of Selene, and find Selene herself, the goddess of the moon, who knows Della. But Selene has never heard of the Spear of Selene... but she tells Dewey that his mother was devoted to her family, and gives him the Sphere of Selene. So the mystery is still there... the name of the episode was a bit misleading, but a good episode. In the end, Dewey accidentally steals Zeus's victory over Scrooge, and they get chased away from the island to find a Launchpad who's dismantled the plane.
