Capcom Arcade Stadium brings back the retro

They don't say how much a cheat code and some fake arcade bezels cost, but I'll probably buy them if they're not TOO expensive.

Also, for the love of dude, please just let me have high-quality versions of the actual original bezel art, Capcom (or fucking anyone). Like, please? The Street Fighter Anniversary comp had some of them, they were great. I want them all the time for all arcade comps.

I just wonder if this will cross over to any other platform. I certainly think I would buy this if it was on Steam.
Well, I guess I better decide if I want to put my money where my mouth is because this is coming out on Steam in June. You can pre-order it now and get a bonus.

The Switch port also got those bespoke arcade frame DLC today (or this week at least). And also the Invincibility cheat which... seems kind of redundant, considering how every game has a rewind feature.

And it also apparently got an update that apparently helped with the shoddier emulation in the existing games. I have absolutely no idea what games that is, or what made them more or less shoddy than any other interpretation of these games, but HEY...

Now its fixed?

There was input delay on some games, apparently. And I'm told it's the ones that REALLY suffer from such things.

Also, do those frames count as "bespoke"?

I believe GigaWing was one of the worst affected, with borderline visible lag. Could be hyperbole but I seem to recall a video and it didn't look good at all. Try it and see!

It's weird there's stuff in the Beat Em Up bundle that isn't in this. The Dungeons and Dragons titles are still listed on XBox Live and that Capcom arcade stick had Aliens vs Predator, so I'm hoping they can work something out for those.

I mean, 2/7 isn't that weird, though I will say that the games are specifically Knights of the Round and King of Dragons does feel a bit weird. Both got SNES ports, both are better-known (I think) than Warriors of Fate or Armored Warriors or Battle Circuit.

As for licensed fare... I'll be pleasantly surprised to see Punisher, AvP, or the D&D games, but I'm definitely not expecting them or even really allowing myself to hope for their inclusion.

Dungeons & Dragons: Chronicles of Mystara is still available on Steam but it is at a pretty high premium ($15) compared to cost of the Stadium games.

Yeah, I have the Steam version. IT WAS WORTH EVERY PENNY.

I also have the Saturn version. (The worth-ness of all those pennies is... up for debate.) Still, it'd be nice to see it included here, if possible, just because it'd be handheld!

I’d be content with English versions of the Japanese only games. And vice versa.

Id be happy with Darkstalkers

Id be ecstatic with Red Earth

And I’m not holding my breath for the licensed games, but boy would I like to be proven wrong there!

Extremely hype for the potential of this, though I remain perplexed as to why they couldn't just release this round of games as additional DLC packs for Capcom Stadium 1. I thought its expandability was the whole point.

Hopefully they’re adding more functionality to the emulator.

Alternatively, it IS just another set of DLC packs.

I hope the two arcade packages work seamlessly together, rather than having to load one Capcom Arcade Stadium to have access to half your games, and the other one to access the other.

Also, thirty two Capcom arcade games, and none of them are likely to be licensed? What do you think they're gonna use? That's got to be a huge chunk of the library, and since we already GOT a huge chunk of the library with the first one...

A bunch of those have problems that can probably be solved (Cannon Spike was developed by Psikyo, but Capcom published and it uses at least three existing Capcom characters in Arthur, Mega Man and Cammy, for example), but several are coming in the new Capcom Fighting collection thing (all the Darkstalkers, Red Earth, Cyberbots, Super Gem Fighter), and I think the Street Fighters are unlikely to come outside their own semi-recent collection, but even considering that, there's a lot. You didn't even include Saturday Night Slammasters, Muscle Bomber Duo, or Slammasters II: Ring of Destruction, but since Tetsuo Hara (Fist of the North Star) did all the character designs and art, that might be another set that isn't possible.

Anyways, there's a lot of stuff available, which is neat. I'm excited for more of this. And I do hope that it reaches beyond just CPS1, CPS Dash, and CPS2 stuff, though I'm not sure that's a reasonable hope.

I thought I had previously heard/read someone mention that there was some kind of rights issue with the Slammasters games which has prevented them from being re-released so that was why I excluded them.

Trojan is already on the first Capcom Arcade Stadium, it's just that it's the Japanese version only. Probably some licensing issue.

Hm, I thought the Capcom characters were just in the Dreamcast version? Save for maybe Cammy and Charlie?

Even the arcade version had Capcom characters.
Though apparently in that one Mega Man and B.B. Hood can only be accessed by entering maintenance codes in the game test mode.

Probably wouldn't count on Cannon Spike returning anytime soon. Psyiko was acquired by X-Nauts back in 2002 and the company Haragami created to distribute Psyiko's old stuff (Zerodiv) was itself acquired by City Connection.

Pity, I do love that game.

The manual was also peak 2000s "someone at Capcom doesn't know what they're doing."

I'm playing Final Fight, one of the games in this collection, and thinking about what it would look like if people in real life walked the way the Final Fight characters do. Lots of stiffness in some parts of the body, and exaggerated motions in other parts. When you got up for work that morning, your shoulders would already be at the office.
