The Yearly Four Job Fiesta, now with Remastered Pixels!

So this is the first Four Job Fiesta since the release of the FF5 Pixel Remaster, who's playin'?

Seems like there's a new Rule, Team 375. If you can do math then you'd know that's half of 750, which basically means instead of the All 750 jobs rule or the No 750 jobs rule this one will give you two of each. Has the potential to give you a more balanced party than usual. I'm giving it a shot.

Wind Job is Black Mage! Hooray!

Water Job is Berserker! Boo!

Fire job is Bard, so that's potentially Omega locked down.

Looking at the rules for Team 375 it looks like a few non-rod jobs were added to the Team 750 pool such as Bard (and I think Dancer?). That means my last job will be a Non-750 job and since this flag can't be mixed with random or chaos that means it will be an Earth job, so that leaves either Samurai or Dragoon.

And dang, I've gotten Dragoon so darn often and it's so boring. I mean, sure, having Black Mage means that one Dragoon ability will be quite useful, but I'd honestly rather have Samurai. Guess I'll see as soon as I'm able to tackle Ronka.

I am playing the FF5 fiesta.
Wind job was also Black Mage, so early game was a cake walk.
Water job was Mystic Knight. Its handy to have someone that can swing a sword, but the extra turn to set up means the BLMs kill most things and with sub Black!, the MK is better off just casting spells along with the BLM. Still, MK can set Break better than BLM i think.
Fire job is Bard. I've never had Bard before. So far, BRD has Black! and once in a while sings the regen song to get a bit of free healing.
I lightening'd Soul Cannon to death and went a head and revealed my Earth job. I got Chemist, so I'm going to go get some turtle shells.

I'm currently doing a random run. Got Blue Mage for my wind job, so a pretty easy start just Goblin Punching everything and Flash and Pond's Chorus for the bosses. Black Mage was my Water job, so I think things will continue to be pretty smooth.

Don't sleep on Vampire, really good healing for the early game and it's available right in the first cave.

Oh yeah, vampire is awesome. I have yet to use a potion. I failed my first Karnak Castle escape; it has been awhile since I've played FFV and I messed up my pathing along with running out of MP. It is ok though, that run was cursed with Aera being targeted every time on the only member without learning.

Hill Gigas be trollin.

I'm at the end of world 1 now, I got Dragoon as my Earth job, of course, so I decided to fork over the cash to make it Samurai.

The three meteor bosses went down easy. Purobolos was a speedbump with three black magic casters, I went to north mountain to confuse a gaelicat with Alluring Air to float my party to defang Titan, and it turns out Chimera Brian is vulnerable to Stop so it went down after a bunch of Romeo's Ballads.

Now I'm wondering if I want to grind up enough gil to get 4 flame rings to make for easy healing with self-immolation. Is there even a good gil earning area in the first world?

As always, Sullas solo runs should provide everyone with a nice source of information.

Fittingly, there is something about this in the Blue Mage report.

A great place to fight was the small islands north of Crescent, which always trigger a battle against five Black Flames (870g and 1350XP).
Probably not as fast as would be ideal, but maybe you can only get one or two of them?

I officially have Chemist in the party and i always forget they don't start with Mix.

Second time was the charm for Karnak castle, using a Tent at the save point made things a breeze. Also Aera was learned on the first Gigas fight and Death Claw was also easy to get. Its been fun using Death Claw to great success against stuff like Byblos and Ramuh. I got Monk for my Fire job. Wonder if I will go 4 for 4 on wind shrine jobs.

Going to give this another try! I've never gotten past the library I think, not so much due to failing out but due to getting a bit bored. It's all good because I pledge $X if I win and $X+25.00 if I don't finish by the end of the fiesta. I'm going full standard mode because weird challenge stuff isn't going to do this dilettante who never finishes anything any favors. ^^; Thief is my first crystal. I'll also throw a donation into the pool to change job if I should "happen" to get berserker. I'll definitely ask for assistance if I get stuck!

I also had a similar experience. Alluring air to get float for titan and romeo'd purobolos and chimera brain so neither one of them even got a turn.
Galuf actually died to Gilgabro on my first try as a MK. So i came back as a bard and as retribution, i Romeo'd him and prevented him from running away.

Wrapped up my initial run last night, 375 Natural:

The last boss took a few tries, since only one character could take the almaghest and sometimes things didn't line up nicely there, but pretty breezy run overall with this group.

An update on my run, I got Dancer for my 4th job, so its Blue Mage - Black Mage - Monk - Dancer. Honestly not the worst, as Dancer makes it a bit easier to confuse for some Blue Magic as well as helping with using the Chicken Knife late game. Plus giving that character !Black or !Blue means Jitterbug Duet actually does decent damage!

I'm currently in World 2, about to go to the Forest of Moore. I've been leaning on Blue Magic whenever I can to "cheese" bosses, and that has been fun. I tried to farm for Reflect Rings in Barrier Tower, but after having insane early luck with 2, I gave up after a long run of nothing.

I tried the reflect ring grind on last year's run. It was useful but maaaaan I don't recommend it, haha.

Don't forget to get an Air Knife for your Blue Mage, makes Aeroga your main damage dealer for a good while now after this.

I'm at the start of world 3 now, Exdeath went down like a chump to a barrage of Firaga. I even got the Gil Turtle down thanks to a Pixel Remaster specific bug.

If you equip Bone Mail and have that character attempt to hit (but miss) an undead monster with a draining attack (either HP or MP) the monster dies immediately. It's like a bug just for Gil Turtle with its high defense, just throw Dancing Dagger and Bone Mail on a character and bam, it goes down.

Alright, my run is Donezo. I even got Omega and Shinryu down as well.

I had Bard, so Omega was fairly easy. I didn't have a Reflect Ring so trickiest part was keeping it locked down while I also reflected someone with the Wonder Wand, then swapped back to the Magus Rod to start casting Thundaga all while making sure the Stop status didn't fall off Omega prematurely. Took a few attempts to thread that timing needle, especially with an uncontrollable Berserker, though it did land some hits now and then.

Shinryu was easier, actually, which is odd since I was more worried about that fight. Berserk just happens to follow Reflect on the Wonder Wand spell order so that worked to my advantage. I just equipped everyone with Coral Rings to survive the initial Tidal Wave, then I just needed to have enough Phoenix Downs in my inventory to bring people back up. I gave the Apollo's Harp to my Berseker since it would just be attacking anyway and I had my other 3 party members run defense for the most part, sneaking in a Flare now and then when I could.

After that NED was a chump. His first form kept trolling me with White Hole, actually, but once his second form got going I just threw money at it with Zeninage until it died. Pay to win baby!

I was even fortunate enough to get the two pieces of Genji Equipment from Gilgamesh in the Void thanks to the Thief Knife, which probably helped my Berserker stay alive through a few attacks from NED.

in re thieves, per the "FFV FJF Handbook":
If you rolled them first life is going to suck.
This is the life I'm living. Man and wife are cleaning my clock over and over. I'm not asking for help yet, but a sympathetic shoulder to cry on would be nice. ; ;

ETA: I'm not sure if "griping online" applies here, but I did manage to beat them with one character standing.

If you wanted to swap to just one Freelancer for that boss fight we all promise to pretend we didn't see it.

Oh wait, missed your edit. Well the above still stands for Galura.

As someone who started White Mage in a previous fiesta, I feel your pain. Hopefully your slog to the Water Crystal pays off!

And I got the time today to finish my Random Run.

Got Exdeath on my very first try. Bartz died right before berserk Faris killed it or I would have revived him. I forgot that the head isn't the Grand Cross part, so I did too much damage to that to start and had to tank a few almagests + vacuum waves which resulted in his demise. It turns out having a Monk with !Blue makes it really easy to heal up with White Wind, since Lenna didn't really do much in the way of damage.

So I started a second run, this one no750. My team is Knight, Mystic Knight, Beastmaster, Samurai. I am in world 2 right now and things are going well save for the fact that I am constantly low on funds from buying potions and gearing up everyone. It got to the point that I had to grind a bit just to have the money to !GilToss the Dragon Flower in Drakenvale. Hopefully I can start trending in the positive cashflow direction soon.

The Four Job Fiesta is live for 2023! My Wind job is White Mage, oof, time for a bit of a slog until the Water Crystal,

Who else is playing this year? I'm looking forward to doing this run on my Switch.

I started a Regular + Onion + Natural run and played up through the water crystal today, with Black Mage and Red Mage as my first two jobs, which is just fine with me.

I still haven't played through the game straightforwardly, and after something like four attempts via this event, a more technical playthrough as a first playthrough hasn't worked well for me. I'll try to get that first run in before the event next year.
