How are the Sega Ages releases of Shinobi, Thunder Force AC, and G-LOC?

I've been hesitant on picking up some of these releases because I thought they would have made a compilation like the 3D Classics Collection in the future. Now that the program has ended that doesn't look like a possibility anymore so I was thinking of using my leftover eShop credit and expiring gold coins to grab a title or two.

What I've played of the Sega Ages line is splendid. I haven't touched Shinobi yet (just bought it), but Thunder Force AC is awesome if you like shooters. Plus it has options to ease you into the game that I really appreciate.

The Sega Ages SoR2 is easily the best version of one of the best games in the genre, so that’s an easy rec.

And Phantasy Star has so many (Optional) QoL improvements it completely invalidates every other release.

G-LOC is interesting as a semi-sequel to Afterburner, but it loses a lot without the gyroscopic cockpit.

Bastion is 80% off on e-shop, along with Transistor. Finally got Bastion, so I’ll be giving it a spin in a few days I imagine.

I will note that GameStop is having a big pre-owned sale - four games $14.99 and under for $30, or an increasing discount on games $29.99 and under that culminates in 50% off six or more games. You do have to watch how you add to the cart, though, if you're hitting up cheap titles, as the $14.99 discount takes precedence.

GOG has The Talos Principle for $6.50 (!) right now. Some regularly cheap and good games are notably discounted as well, e.g. Deus Ex and Thief 1-3 for $1 each, Hacknet for $2, FTL and Jagged Alliance II for $2.50, Shadowrun: Dragonfall for $3.75.

Those are worth double dipping for portability at that price...

(also Hades plays absurdly well on switch, so I'm not worried about the port quality)

Seriously, if you don't have Deus Ex and Thief, there's no excuse for not getting them at that price.

I recommend not buying games you don't intend to play. This might sound sarcastic, but I've found it to be actually very good advice.

Sadly they’re no longer on sale. : (

But I can confirm that Bastion runs really well in both Docked mode and Portable mode!

I agree with that, but with at least the first Thief and Deus Ex, you should want to play them. ;)

Supergiant games go on sale at 80% off fairly regularly, so if you missed out, just wait!

It's SEGA's 60th Anniversary. That's quite a long time to service games.

In honor of that SEGA has a lot of games on sale on Steam:

They also are giving away Sonic the Hedgehog 2 for free. (But the free version doesn't drop Steam trading cards. But if you don't care about that then it doesn't matter.)

Obra Dinn is a GOAT and anyone who missed it the first time around and likes narrative games or solving mysteries would be well advised to snap it up. I would argue it's the best "detective" game ever made.
