....wha? Look, I get it, Shredder's Revenge opened some doors but don't you at least have to get through Biker Mice from Mars or Cowboys of Moo Mesa to get to this stage? Even Street Sharks...

Not to say that this is completely uninvited or anything. That said, if they are bringing back this obscure brand, I feel like they should do something a little more Troma. It could still be for relatively all audiences but still feel somewhat... low-key subversive?

Toxic Crusaders is a weird choice, based on a not-especially popular cartoon that was a dilution of a cult film. There were Toxic Crusaders games in the past... and none of them were very good, an ill omen for this release.

(Then again, the watered-down cartoon version of Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles is why that franchise became so popular...)

If we're gonna make new brawlers based on every 80s and 90s toy-selling cartoon property then I want someone to get us quality The Real Ghostbusters and Extreme Ghostbusters games out there sooner rather than later.

Ghostbusters beat-em-up sounds weirdly good. I can think of a few others with nothing but long-range armaments.

There was always a sense of skepticism in my head whenever people would hold up The Ninja Warriors as one of the best beat-em-ups of all time. I had never played it, and I've been slightly disappointed in the past whenever I've tried other "GOAT" beat-em-ups.

Well, tonight I finally played Ninja Warriors: Once Again (as Kunoichi). That is a good fucking video game. Initially I got stuck on the 1st boss for a while, and I started to feel resentful that it had checkpoint respawns instead of instant respawns. But then I finally beat the boss. And all of a sudden things were clicking more, and I beat the 2nd and 3rd stages first try. It just... opened itself up to me gradually until all the tiny layers became visible, all the while constantly throwing together new mixed configurations of its varied enemy types. Just... an engrossing and satisfying gameplay experience. I was still learning stuff fighting the final boss.

Yeah, The Ninja Warriors is something special and it's a shame more people didn't realise that when it came out.

I wish I'd seen a copy back in the day, totally would have gotten it. But Once Again is a really good update to the still-excellent SNES game.
