NYT Has Bought Wordle (Wordle Thread)

Man, today’s Wordle and Quordle both came down to the last guess for me. A rough day for my usual strats.

My streak's been bumped a ton of times, either due to forgetting a day, cookies going away, or missing the word. Most recently they integrated Wordle into the NYT Crossword app tied to that account, so we just hit up both of those when my wife and I do our daily brain game chores.

I’m still playing! Kinda upset that our kids’ go-to starter word is EARTH, and a few weeks back, they used it. Unfortunately the kids weren’t playing with us, so they didn’t get the credit for a hole in one.

I tend to choose a different word as my starter each day, although I know there are a number of more strategic ones. My only hole-in-one is LEAFY from a few weeks ago.

When the kids aren’t playing we just pick something relevant to our days, like yesterday my wife took the kids to a water park, so we used SLIDE as the starter. We started out being strategic, but now we just want to have fun.

That's a really cool pattern, not to mention getting all the letters but in the wrong spot on that fourth guess!

I do still play. I had an almost year-long streak going this year, lost it at 347. I forgot a day a while back, so I'm sitting around 90 now. I also do Dordle, Quordle, and Octordle.

I'm still playing, mostly to share with my family. I used to do quordle too, but fell of it it. Mostly I just do it so I can share Wordle scores with my family. I can't seem to get a streak above 5-10 going though before I forget a day here or there. AH WELL

Sharing with family seems to be a common thread! My sister and I have been playing Wordle, Quordle and Blossom (the latter two on Merriam- Webster). My highest streak on Q is an anemic 24. W got up to 99. Blossom is more about scoring on any given day than maintaining streaks and my highest score is a smidgen over 400.

I like Connections, but some days like last night’s list have too many words that cross groups, or nothing triggers at all. I think it’s helped by not keeping a running streak, because it removes the stress of not needing to keep a number going up.

I was a very late adopter of Wordle, but as of today I am at 210 games played and a 125 win streak. I thiiink this game is just the right level of difficulty for me? I am not terribly good at word games, and anything that has a time limit stresses me out too much (I legit had a mild anxiety attack trying to play timed Scrabble one time).

I don't know when the daily reset time is, but I'm incapable of maintaining a streak due to generally playing at bedtime, which is anywhere between 11pm-2am Pacific.

I like Connections, and I think the false positives are basically the only thing that keeps the game a little interesting rather than being a problem.

For the NYT ones at least, it's just based on the local time on your device. So, that's why you miss days when you play between 11pm and 2am—there are two different days in that time period.
