(I wonder if he is supposed to be based on a specific person or just the general idea of a "Gamer".)
(Massive self-indulgence alert) He is an adapted version of an existing unnamed Overfiend Comics character, hugely toned down from his original extremely bigoted personality, but yeah he basically just represents the Git Gud Gamer boogie2988/Goobergrump sort of guy. I kind of regret making him super fat because it's basically body shaming and I should be better than that, but it fit that kind of "neckbeard" stereotype and I was very bitter towards those kind of people at the time. I kept him that weight but made him super strong instead because I thought it would be kind of cool to make him a big bruiser type. Here I dropped the misogyny/anti-semetism etc because Merry Hell doesn't need it. I already regret doing so many masturbation/sex jokes, it's not that they weren't necessarily OK jokes but it wasn't smart to front-load the comic with them. Or maybe it was smart, to get them out of the way. There was some controversy with the early comics so I've been trying to move on from it. Here's an image so this whole post isn't idiotic, boring commentary. Sensitivity concerns I would appreciate advice on below the pop:
This is Jasumati, a friend of Liz and character I'm introducing soon, and I've been quite nervous about doing so because while I wanted to introduce a British-Indian character, I wasn't sure if I really had any right to do so? It's totally unrealistic that everyone be white, but at the same time I don't want to accidentally offend anyone by trivialising any aspects of their culture. I gave her the bindi because I know a lot of women who wear it that aren't necessarily super observant/religious and just think it looks nice, but I'm still antsy about the whole thing.
