"But he's better than Chibnall"I can’t wait for Who fans to be like, “Russell T Davies is ruining the show, there’s no way this would have happened under Russell T Davies”
I give it five minutes into his first episodeI can’t wait for Who fans to be like, “Russell T Davies is ruining the show, there’s no way this would have happened under Russell T Davies”
This is the main reason I want someone new to take over. Will round 2 of RTDs era be good television? Probably. But, to use RTDs own words ("his" in the quote below is referring to Eccleston, here):I want to be excited, RTD's Doctors were my Doctors, and I vastly prefer his excesses over Moffat's (I don't know Chibnall's excesses because I stopped watching after the Amazon episode.)
But... the RTD era, and RTD's watch, were also where the Barrowman and Clarke things happened that we only learned about this year. And sexual assault is NEVER something to just push under the rug, forgive, or forget. EVER. And yes, I do hold him responsible for on-set incidents that were well-known to cast and crew.
EDIT: I linked this last time but Eccleston's quotes keep being relevant:
Christopher Eccleston talks about Doctor Who exit
Actor Christopher Eccleston says he quit Doctor Who after one series because he "didn't enjoy the environment and the culture".www.bbc.co.uk
"What has to be remembered when the show's being discussed in the present tense, now, is that I was his employer - I was his producer," Davies told SFX Magazine. I have a duty of care towards any lead actor I work with, so I have a duty of care towards Chris in that moment. He's free to say and explore whatever he wants - that's fine. This duty of care involves respecting him and listening to him at all times. That's my job and that duty of care towards him will extend for the rest of our lives. He will always be my Doctor and I always be his producer."
Wait, already? I honestly wasn't expecting a new series soon, let alone by-month's-end soon.
If I stopped watching after the "Battle of [completely forgettable planet]" episode with the tooth hunter, do I need to catch up?
