Dottie Flowers is a very Treasure like looking Platformer Shooter that the dev released for free at the start of the year and is designed to run on the SNES.

Edit: And apparently it's the sequel to another free Treasure like SNES homebrew that is a little less shooty and more drill dozy.

This looks neat, I'll try it out! Thanks for the heads up.

Epic has The Bridge for free. A puzzle game with levels that look like M.C. Escher pictures. I don't know anything else, but it looks pretty cool.

Also, Deus Ex: Mankind Divided.

This week, Epic has:

The Outer Worlds: Spacers Choice Edition (meaning it has three DLCs added). I already have it from another time where it was free there.
Thief, which seems to be a remake of that old first-person game, where you play a thief and do stuff. I only started it one time, 20 years ago, and got overwhelmed by it immediately. This one seems kinda brutal, though.

New free games on Epic:

The Big Con seems like an adventure-y kind of game, with a cool artstyle and 90s asthetics. I guess you can steal stuff? You're playing a teenager in the 90s, trying to save your families store, or something. Look, I'm not sure what exactly this is, but I really like the artstyle.

Town of Salem 2 is some online multiplayer game with a nice, cartoony artstyle. I guess it's a take on Werewolf, where each player takes on a different role, maybe?

Notably, this was the one that folks may remember as having a bop of a theme song sung by none other than Rockappella of Where in the World is Carmen Sandiego? fame.

The Big Con's art reminds me of Doug. The gameplay trailer shows a lot of stealing from kids and your friends, which, uh

Town of Salem 2 was free before this week. It looks like they're giving away cosmetics if you log into the game this week. Normally, Epic gives out wheelbarrows of money for the games that show up here, but I suspect the money flows the other direction in this case.

Goddamn, I was watching the trailer and I said "I like how they got an a capella group to try and sound like Rockapella". And now you're telling me it was just straight up Rockapella? I love it.

(Fun fact, Rockapella may have been my first concert.)

Lisa: Definitive Edition (consisting of Lisa the Painful and Lisa the Joyful) is free on Epic. I had Lisa the Painful for roughly ten years, never got around to playing it. Seems like a game where I have to be in the right mood.

There is also another game, but it looked completely uninteresting to me. Some first-person shooter, but in the middle of the 20th century, I think? Dunno, just take a look.

Epics free game this week is Dragon Age Inquisition. And they don't show what the next game will be (like they did last week, when they hid DA: Inquisition), so I guess we will get a few bigger games for the next time.

So someone made a fan remake of the original Castlevania, redesigning it to straddle the line between Classic-vania and Iga-vania.

I watched the YouTuber JupiterClimb play through that a few days ago. I thought it looked interesting and well presented but the gameplay seemed to not be my cup of tea.

It's not actually out yet, but someone is also working on a PC port of Simon's Quest that makes the world contiguous instead of leaving the screen and popping out on a new one.

That's a cool idea, but I feel like Simon's Quest is still from the era where you were constantly dying by falling into pits. How would respawning work?

Your feelings betray you. But it is the one where touching water makes you go OOF and take half your max HP in damage before bouncing back out.

Now, the ferryman destinations, those'd be maybe weird.

Realized I should post this here too. It's very pleasant.
In honor of International Cat Day DevCats released a free hidden picture game, Stray Cats in Cozy Town. The free game is cute, and there's a <$2 DLC where all proceeds are going to the Humane Society.
