I'm pretty sure I tried without, too. I wonder if there's some sort of lingering hook in the Pseudo Saturn Kai cart that's keeping it from booting correctly? Stuff is weird. :( (Or are you booting without? I'll try a different version I downloaded and see what happens if I get a chance tonight.)

Kazin

did i do all of that?
(he/him)
Yeah, I don't have access to the TV the Saturn is hooked up to at the moment, but I should later tonight/tomorrow so I'll give it a shot. I have booted the Fenrir without the PSK cart inserted, but I didn't play In the Hunt that time...

Okay, it may well be as @BubsyFan_86 said, it's incredibly picky to boot. I must have gotten really lucky - tonight I've had issues on all three versions I tossed on the card. Sometimes black screen, sometimes the quick intro movie then black screen, and only occasionally a valid boot. So... it may just be the game itself. :(

EDIT: Small sample size, but I followed some advice in the discussion here and unplugged the controller just after booting the game, and I managed to get into the game 3/3 times. And there is some speculation that maybe the AR/PSK is tripping some protection code. Dunno.

Anyone got recommendations for a Dreamcast GD-emu tray? I feel like one should be in there, but the last one I got didn't fit in the system properly. I've been ridin' dirty for a couple of years now and it's probably time that changed.

I can't get it to work, though I didn't try the unplug the controller thing since I'm using a wireless 2.4ghz controller and at the end of the day, it's not worth the trouble at this point lol. There's always the PSX version. I appreciate your help, though.

Now to figure out why I can't get the Saturn fan translation of Lunar Silver Star to work...

It looks like I downloaded it pre-patched with the dub, then ran it through ISOBuster to get it into separate BIN files for each track, and downloaded the CUE file from redump.org. Seems to work okay now.

Well! I'd never heard of redump.org. I'd been getting all my ISOs and such from archive.org lol

Time to explore a new website~

All they have there is the track information from the Redump project, no actual downloads. You're still getting your stuff from the right place. :)

I use a "remote mount kit" from Laser Bear Industries:
Thought I'd post a few pics of my GDEMU install for posterity.
Love how clean the Laser Bear mount kit looks once it's all put back together, almost like the original GD-ROM drive.

Wait what, I just heard that PAL N64s will output 60Hz when playing NTSC games through an Everdrive

Is this true? Black Friday could be quite expensive if that's right

What's the preferred flashcart for SNES these days? Assuming that yes, I want to play Yoshi's Island and Star Fox but no, I don't especially care if I can play that one Japanese exclusive RTC SNES game.

If you want to play Super FX games you're still going to need to get the FX Pak Pro.

Getting a Terasic DE-10 Nano is $60 cheaper -- and it has an SPC7110 implementation anyway!

True, but you need at least a memory expansion before you can play SNES games, and a decent USB controller. I love my MiSTer, but you need more than just the board.

Yeah, and like... MISTer is cool, but I'm asking because I have a Super Nintendo that I wanna make use of. If I weren't interested in using the original hardware then I'd still have like a dozen other things that play SNES games already lying around the house.

I mean you could look at it the other way -- FXPakPro is the cost of the next-best unit plus no more than the cost of Yoshi's Island and Star Fox together so it's not that ugly a purchase either. But there is no solution where you won't be paying like $240 total for the privilege of a flash cart and the ability to play your most favorite Super FX games.

I'm debating whether I need the GBA X5 Mini. I have one of those 3-in-1 expansion carts for the DS, but an EverDrive would certainly be more convenient.

EDIT: Couldn't help myself, got it. Yeah, it's not as cheap a solution, but I figure the fast loading will more than make up for it.

I got one of those last year, it's great.

I splashed out and got a GB X7 and an N64 X5. I figured a real time clock and development tools weren't worth the extra money on the N64, cool though they are.

Yeah, last year I got the N64 2.5 for really cheap. I only miss a couple games of compatibility that I'd have never played anyway.

Does an ODE exist that works with a PS1 SCPH-9001 (i.e. the model that got rid of the parallel I/O port)? I've got a PS1 kicking around doing nothing and I'm really enjoying modding all these systems...

I think you're out of luck for now. The PSIO works with the parallel port, and the XStation needs early boards, 1xxx, 5xxx, and some 7xxx models.

Sarge

Yeah, both of my systems are SCPH-9001s, and there are no options out there. It's a bummer, indeed! I've actually thought about getting a pre-modded XStation system.

Got a GGED and splurged on a Mega ED Pro on the Black Friday sale. My Genesis 2 is off to get a Triple Bypass installed, so it seems like my primary Genesis is about to change from my X'Eye to the Genesis 2 with the Mega ED Pro.

Sarge

Oh, man, I always wanted an X'Eye. So cool. I'm still not quite ready to do the MED Pro, but I won't lie, it's been tempting. I've got a Model 1 Genesis hooked to a Model 2 SCD right now with a MED V2 (basically the X7).
