Football 2022: Time Makes Fools of Us All

I know pro sports is a mercenary business, but I'm pretty busted up by the Russell Wilson trade. It's made even worse by being a mystifyingly bad deal for Seattle. I think that I would like Pete Carroll and John Schneider replaced.

I'll be devil's advocate, I think it's not so bad. It's weird because it's not quite rebuilding, and definitely not enough to support a team that is already competing, but there's potential. They have a good cap situation, and a ton of support, so they sure up their line and add pass rush then they're still good. Luck is just not good, a lot of it is decision making, but some better coaching and a new cast has been enough to turn average qbs into useful qbs and super bowl winners. I generally depress the impact of qbs, and wilson was one of the few that definitely does have a big individual impact, but I'll be bullish unless they start trying to flip more into a rebuild direction. NFC is wide open though, maybe they'll turn around and deal for another qb

Issue was I'm not sure Seattle really had a lot of leverage. Wilson wanted out and had a no-trade clause in his contract meaning he could reject going to any team he didn't want to go. Plus it's a lot of money that Denver has to pay.

The Deshaun Watson to the Seahawks rumors are making me feel physically ill. I would like to be able to watch and root for my team this year please.

Brady is coming back so between that and the Seahawks probably sucking this year, maybe I just skip this season.

I like that the idea is that the Browns are such a nothing of a team that the resulting game will be a literal bloodbath. I also appreciate that the corresponding reference to 'nice boat' is oblique

I love that Broncos @ Seahawks is the Week 1 MNF game. I am not being facetious either, this is legit exciting.
