What if Jill is Shiva.
Hope it doesn't Game Of Thronitize the typical Crystals narrative too much.
I mean, didn’t they also do that in FFXIV... twice.
They also did that in FFXII. That was the whole game.
Well yeah, but that was mostly a one-sided struggle of Lord Vayne's Manufacted Emporium vs the Floating Chess Piece Gods, with Ashe's Fashion Disasters being manipulated by both sides. The other countries were off to the side, laughing just out of frame, and were much more of an excuse to make Vayne a villain than a significant part of the political plot.
It really feels that if, say, Matsuno was in charge of the story everyone on TT would be celebrating about it
They also did it in FFXIVThey already did that in XV (not that I'd mind).
AFAIK this is in fact the opposite of Game of Thrones, since the whole struggle there seems to be in the pursuit of upholding empire and theocracy, just with slight adjustments. It’s a Final Fantasy game with a tag line of “the legacy of the crystals [aka theocratic power] has shaped our history for long enough”.
What do you normally do in FF games?
Tear down the empire and theocracy. If that’s game of thrones then, well, I dunno.
Sure. But what makes FFXVI “Game of Thrones” then? This is absolutely a pet peeve I’m having with peoples’ constant comparisons.
It really feels that if, say, Matsuno was in charge of the story everyone on TT would be celebrating about it, and not having all these constant “looks like Game of Thrones/Witcher” comments.
??? This just seems wrong? Of all the FF's I have intimate knowledge about:As a point of order, destroying churches or kingdoms is not actually a common plot for FF which often concerns itself with warring kingdoms one of which is bad and the others are good. Overthrowing the empire is basically just 2 and I guess 12 kinda (I didn't finish 12 because the plot kinda bored me but I'm pretty sure there's an Emperor Larsa at the end) in almost every game save the ones that don't have any kingdoms you end up allying with the good one(s) against the bad one(s) and the concept that monarchies should just not exist is never brooched.
