Not gonna lie; kind of tempted to just sit this week out, as it is *scanty*
First, and by far the most significant, the Switch Online service updated and correspondingly, we have an update to Genesflix; which came out of nowhere and contains four games; all of which are genuine surprises. Granted, one of those are only surprising because... I would have sworn it was already on there, but apparently not. The "Oh, that's not already on there? Weird" game is Comix Zone, the beat-em-up/platformer/puzzle game hybrid that looked at Cool World and said "Well, what if this didn't suck beans?". Regardless of ones feelings on the game, can't argue that it blows Cool World out of the water. We also have Mega Man: The Wily Wars! The Sega Channel exclusive (except in Japan and Europe) collection of the first three Mega Mens using twice as many bits, and also a bonus mode that smooshes all the games together sorta! Target Earth is the Genesis entry of a series that has a different title with every entry so I am genuinely unsure how many games there are in it! But it's like Cybernator, I know that much! And finally, Zero Wing, the game that knew not what it doing when its base all belonged to them. It may not be the origin of the internet meme, but, buddy, it sure was quick getting its foot in the door.
And speaking of largely forgotten Genesis shooters, we have a separate release for one that's even LESS remembered; Zero Tolerance! A weirdly super-ambitious FPS designed for a console that could barely handle Space Harrier. It also has its sequel, Zero Tolerance Underground, which I didn't know existed, and Zero Tolerance Beyond, which was an unproduced tech demo, so listing it as a separate game feels disingenuous on their part. But it's also a game from Piko, so... you know... ethics isn't high on their list of personal goals.
Explore scenic "Some Building full of alien terrorists" and introduce them to the fact that human beings can explode *anybody*; with five separate characters with distinctive abilities and weapons.
Yurukill I assumed would be a visual novel, based on half the screenshots in the eShop, but it's also a Shmup, apparently. And maybe an escape room game? You're an Anime Teen who is stuck in a Running Man-ish murder-theme park where you have to win Shmups in order to survive after you're falsely imprisoned for a dastardly crime. That's... that's a lot of concepts. But anything that brings to mind the X-Men villain Arcade is worth it in my book!
Overrogue is another Kemco JRPG, and I generally don't mention those because, there's, like, one every other week and there's nothing to really differentiate them. EXCEPT THIS ONE, as this time, instead of just slapping out a Dragon Quest knock-off and calling it a day, they're slapping out a Slay the Spire knock-off and calling it a day. They're putting in much more effort than usual, so I feel like it's only fair that I acknowledge it.
But, y'know... Slay the Spire and Roguebook and Steamworld Quest are also all extant, and the same price
Just sayin'
I guess that's it?
